Hi all. The wife just told me to put the end of Sept. 2005 on my outlook calendar. Seems we are going on the 7 night Western Caribbean Cruiese. I assume it will be a tad different than working the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. That was the last time I was on a ship!
We are going with good friends who have a 3yr old girl as we do. Really looking forward to it. This far in advance, is it for sure what ship it will be? Can't find anything on the website.

Also, any tips from you experts?

Thanks in Advance.
Tim

You will be on the Magic. The Magic does 7 day cruises and the Wonder does 3 & 4 day cruises.

As far as tips:
Just keep reading this board, and you will know more than most people who have cruised before by the time you leave.

DH-2-be and I met while working on the Kitty Hawk, and you have no idea how different disney is. It's like a dream! You'll love it and for any advise, this board is the place to get it!

We will probably be sailing with you.
WEre on the 9/24/05 Western on the Magic.
It is the last sailing before the ship goes into dry dock for two weeks.
We have been on the Eastern when our daughter was 4 and she loved the club - Never wanting to leave.
WEe will have our Son 3, and daughters 9 and 6.

Best advice is to keep reading these boards.

wow, quick responses. Thanks a million.

Congrats to the happy couple. Nice to see a couple of "squids" find happiness. :o)

Sabor, I see ya at Diversions or Route 66. I'll buy you a beer.

Thanks again everyone.

Tim

Hey there!
You are in for a great time. My father was on an aircraft carrier in the Navy (USS Midway CVA41) He swore he'd never do a pleasure cruise, but last year we took him on a 4 day Wonder cruise. He LOVED it! We'd get a kick out of asking him questions like "so, is your cabin pretty much like what you slept in on the Midway?" or "I'll bet the food was better on the Midway, huh?" He got a kick out of setting the record straight and telling us the stories of his Navy days--many I had not heard.

While he had a great time on the Wonder (and is going back with us for the 10 day this December) I knew his heart was with the Navy---we sat in port in Nassau and hung over our verandahs watching a US Navy ship in dock. We watched all the guys working, some going out on shore leave, others standing guard with guns, a smaller boat patrolling the water around.

HTH. You'll have a great time!

Hey have a great time. My DH is a Marine so I know from stories you will have better accomodations on this cruise not to mention a bunkmate who smells a lot better and is a lot prettier than the Navy years :p On the upside you don't have to wear a color coded shirt on the top deck but on the down side you don't get flight deck hazardous duty pay ;) Seriously though you will have a wonderful time. There are enough adult things (adult only pool and beach at Castaway Cay) to do to get away and have quality time with the rest of the group. MY sister has cruised with us for the past 2 years and does not have children and she loves it DCL. Keep an eye on these boards. This board is like the cliff notes for Disney cruises. We prepped for our first 2 Disney cruises with them and now again counting down to number 3.

Have fun and thanks for your service in the Navy!:wave2:

ohiominnie, I am sure your dad had a blast. You can take the sailor out of the Navy, but you can't take the Navy out of the sailor. I am sure I will get similar comments from my group. I served from 1984 through 1988. I can sometimes still hear the IMC calling for flight quarters :p

buzz&woody'smom, I don't think my Yellow shirt is gonna fit the same way it did back then (they must have shrunk!)
I was stationed on the USS Guam LPH-9. We carried Marine infantry and Airwing. You DH probably knows the set up.

Thanks again

Tim

Hubby says the magic is nothing like being on an aircraft carrier.

Unlike the Navy, you can leave the water on the entire time you're in the shower.
