First call to Member Services

Hi
We have closed our first DVC purchase and are in the 5-7 day waiting period. I can't believe how hard it is to wait these last few days!!

When calling, do I choose Member Services or Member Administration to setup my account? Also, do I get to choose my Member Name or is it the same as my Disney login?

Call Member Services, and don't be surprised if your account is set up one day, but there are no points in it! Account setup seems to be a two-part process and the points often go into the account the day after the account is actually in the computer. Once the points are in, you'll be able to make reservations.

The member name thing is for the member website and you can make that whatever you want. I believe you will receive a seperate email that will link you to the setup for that.

Your DVC account that you use to make reservations will be by account number. You'll be asked for your member number each time you call, so be sure to write it down until you get your card. You will also be asked some security questions prior to each transaction/inquiry to make sure you are the real member. That just takes a few seconds and the reservation process itself is very simple.

Whenever you make reservations, be sure to double-check everything before you hang up. Mistakes sometimes occur, and they are MUCH easier to correct in that initial call than later.

One thing I learned is to link your existing member name on Disney's website (ie. if you've placed orders on DisneyShopping.com, DisneyWorld.com) with your DVC account so you only have one logon for all Disney sites.

I doubt you have any points yet. Our resale contract was sent to Disney last Friday. Our contract showed up on Monday, but the points didn't go in until yesterday afternoon - almost a full week from the time the contract was sent over.

Yes, it really does make the disney websites happier if you just have the one login.
 
It has been 6 days and I am still not in the system...:sad2:. Should I be worried?
 
I just spoke with MS just a minute ago to see if I was in yet...... no luck either. We were told on Wednesday, I think we had been sent to Disney for membership and I hoped we'd be in by now. :confused3

MS told me that Admin services does not work weekends so if we are not in now, go and enjoy the rest of the weekend :woohoo: and start worrying all over on Monday.

That's my plan....... good luck. :yay:
