First Attempt of a Trip Report (6/6-6/13)

Great report....thanks for stirring up the anticipation :yay:
When we begin full timing, we kick off the new life at FW and know of no better campground in the USA to bring the grandkids

Lovin' the TR! Great pics! I feel like I'm along for the ride!

Thanks again all.....

So I think we are up to Monday. I'll try to make these go fast. At the end I'll of this TR I'll just post some Fort pics and some of my gripes about the Fort.

Woke up to try to get rope drop in MK...yeah right. Got there around 9:30. The CM at will call messed up a bit pricing one of our DD. Since it took a few minutes for her to correct it she gave us a golden ticket...a fast pass for any ride in the park. Thought that was a good score. DW and older DD went right to space mountain while I did the fast passes for Buzz. Park was the normal busy but we left before the crowds really started (after lunch) and headed back to the Fort for a break.

look at ll those people.

We were planning on the Giddy-up-an-go chicken but kids wanted pizza. Guess who won that battle

After dinner we took the boat back to MK for the fireworks. Very bad decision!! Our kids don't like fireworks close up. I'll blame the DW on this one. She loves em. We stayed for the parade but once the fireworks started we were the ones bolting outa there.

Waiting for boat back to MK

Next morning it was off to HS. I went back to the canal behind our spot early in the morning before family woke up. Saw about 5 deer. Just can't get enough of the wild life there....it really make the Fort special.

I know you can't see it here but there are deer down the canal

Went to Hollywood and Vine for lunch. I know people on Dis boards say the food wasn't that great but DW and I thought different. We would go back. (we tried to do the fairy tale at the MK castle but no luck , even calling 40 days in advance)

Wed, Day 3
Wednesday was a relaxing day. Only thing planned was the HDDR at 5pm. This would be my first time there, All you can drink...you betcha! Another goal was to find some old RR tracks. Being in the 1500 loop it was not hard to do. They are right at the entrance. Decided to take the boat to Contemporary for lunch and Poly for shopping.

Lunch at Contemp

About this night is when younger DD freaked out. Before we left for the trip we warned the kids about the yellow flies. They were on the look out. I did see a few setting up 3 days prior. Well 'something' flew by her, it could have been a butterfly but she was down. I thought I was watching a WWII movie. "I've been hit, am down, the agony" Turned out to be absolutely nothing. Close call there. BTW, the flies seemed to be slow. I had a few land on me but were swatted off fast enough. They didn't act like fast biters.

Next update I'll do Thursday's AK visit, more Fort pics- a tower that I have no idea what it's for, and prices at the Meadows. PLUS Chip and Dale's Sing- A-Along, and fishing.
Thanks for following!!!!!!!

So what part of the Cincy area you reside in. I live out on the west side by Okeana, fly out of I67.

I'm late to the party (again!), but awesome TR! I'm looking forward to more!

Leslie

Thanks so much.. the comments keep me going. This is taking (me) a long time.:goodvibes

Really enjoying your report and photos.:3dglasses
Thanks for posting!

Hope you continue too... almost to the end.

So what part of the Cincy area you reside in. I live out on the west side by Okeana, fly out of I67.

Actually Northern KY. About 15-20 south of the city. Been a while since I've flown though, got to expensive.

Ok, I think we are up to Thrus (only 3 more days for the Fort at this point:guilty:)

We went to AK, it was youngest DD first time. Each day since arriving it was getting hotter. Needless to say we didn't stay very long here. Did the normal things...safari, dino land, lion king, train. The youngest DD is scared of everything so we had to pass on bugs life.

One quick pic from AK

Went back to the Fort and finally cooked dinner at the campsite. Brought the camper down with us to save $$ on meals. Who were we kidding, four days and this is our first (and last) dinner we 'made' Burgers on the grill and skyline chili for the girls (a Cincy thing). Went to Chip and Dales sing a long that evening. I must say it was a good time. They love roasting marshmallows and it wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. Went back Sat night too. Never stayed for the movie either night though.

Before the lighting. You DO NOT have to show up early like we did.

BTW. If you want autographs Dale always goes to the left and Chip to right (as looking at the movie screen)

It was soon time to hit the beach for some '"far away fireworks, don't worry kids" at the beach and the water pageant. I don't think we got one pic of the fire works but from the beach you won't be disappointed. We loved how they pipe in the music/ story from MK. I must stay it does make the Fort very magical.

I know, bad pic

Friday was hanging around the Fort and just kicking back after a busy week. This is what it's all about, just enjoying the reason we drove over 1600 miles round trip. Swimming, kids arts and crafts, cart looping (I have so many videos of the loops) and doing TE for lunch. I was so glad they had pizza on the buffet for my picky DD eaters. (it's not on the menu)

Went to get ice at the meadows. DW took a couple of shots of the food while in there. Yes the famous cheese whiz for almost 8 bucks.

I have no pics of it here but we went fishing at the 1500 loop canals. Yes, I was the grown man with the Barbie fishing poles. We tried a few different things for bait but no bites. Then I remembered the fried chicken bits we snuck out of the TE lunch just for this purpose (thanks DaveinTN). By this time the kids lost interest and went to play tether ball. I continued with the barbie poles and moved to smaller canal, the one that feeds from the entrance of this beautiful loop. OMG, I couldn't believe the hits I was able to get. The forts chicken is highly recommend bait.

While at the pony rides the same day we saw this tower by the ranch covered in vines. Anybody have an idea what it is, or what it was used for???

Sorry for the side view, too lazy to fix at the moment

Almost done with TR. I'll rap up tonight with more Fort pics.

Well at this point our first fort trip with camper is almost over. We were so glad we extended the trip by one day, it made the difference. On Sat we decided to head over to down town Disney. Near the carousel there is a bench with Winnie the pooh and friends. We have been getting pics with the kids every visit on that bench since they were born. It's wild to see them grown up there. When we left they started calling for heat advisories (especially for Sun, day we leave).

As you can see we left the 1500 loop in late morning and returned later in the afternoon. Just look at the temp....and factor in that good 'ole Fl humidity.

Ended up doing pizza again for dinner, kids’ choice. It isn't that bad but we never had the opportunity to get the Getty-up-and-go. We know it's all the same chicken though (TE, HDDR). One thing I wanted to do was a canoe ride, it was just too darn hot though. I wish the bike barn stayed open a little later (one of my gripes). An 8 o'clock boat ride around the canals would be perfect as opposed to a 5 o'clock.
Started to pack up a few things Sat nite. I saw a lot of these guys. This one was on the clothes line (Yes, I said it).

You are doing great on this trip report!

Good job on the photos!

As for this question:

While at the pony rides the same day we saw this tower by the ranch covered in vines. Anybody have an idea what it is, or what it was used for???

There used to be a windmill on top of that tower. It might still be there- I will have to take a look the next time I'm in the area. I don't think it ever really did anything- just a decoration to fit in with the farm theme. The vines have really taken over, and the whole thing kind of blends in with its surroundings now.

Great TR! :cheer2:

We learned the hard way about Chip and Dale going different directions at the campfire. We tried 2 times to get a pic with Dale. (We thought we kept missing him because we were late.) Luckily the next morning after our Hollywood and Vine Meal, they were both right in front of the big Sorcerer's Hat...together! :cheer2:

We had already planned on reserving GU&G chicken skin for bait. Now it is written in stone.

Keep it coming! You're doing great! Getting me all excited about our trip! :woohoo:

The feeling of excitment when you see the Disney signs as you enter the Resort is SO opposite the feeling of passing those same signs when you are leaving...
Now's the time we say good bye... to all our company...

Now don't start making me sad before our trip even starts!

Looks like you have Post Traumatic Leaving the Fort Syndrome. :flower3: (I show symptoms before we pull out of the site.)

Thanks for the trip report! I enjoyed it!

Wait, am not done yet!! Have more pics to add today.

Cool! A November trip sounds awesome! We may be purchasing AP's this year so maybe we could fit in an extra trip ourselves. School is overrated anyway. ;)

More pics you say? :cheer2:
