First a Little Pomp & Circumstance, then a Whole Lot of Disney Dining! COMPLETE

Welcome home Joh and Brenda!! :goodvibes

(....now get to writing! :lmao:)

Conicidently, many of your favorite desserts were ours as well!!! Honestly, I could just read dessert dining reviews such as this and be very happy. :lmao:

Just for that almond crusted cheesecake (and maybe for the filet as well) - I NEED to go to Narcoosees! ::yes::

That cheesecake is truly amazing! :lovestruc

I had to laugh HYSTERICALLY at this comment.... it will all be in context when I get to writing my dining review for HBD. I need to bookmark this since it is so prophetic. :lmao::lmao: For those Disers who know my story (you know who you are! :rotfl2: Shhhhh....)

Sorry I had to jump back in and comment on that one since I can't stop giggling!!

Barb: May I once again commend you for such an awesome job of keeping all the Disers updated and informed. I was sad to see your dining review come to and end but all of your favorites was really a highlight. And it reminded me once again of the places I have yet to try. (Jiko, Narcoosees and even Flying Fish even though it is not in this review.) :)

Yes, I know who I am! I,too, am giggling a bit! :lmao:

And yes, again ... many thanks Barb!

Great picture :thumbsup2 And, of course they love it, it's an awesome resort!

Sadly, we are home  We left Orlando shortly before 11am on Thursday and arrived at our house just after 11 yesterday (Friday) morning. We all slept for 12 hours last night, we were so tired. I will be starting my trip report very soon - I have uploaded the 1873 pictures I took to my laptop and am in the process of sorting them, ready to upload to Photobucket. Stay tuned....

Glad you are home safe & sound! What a looooong trip! I have to find your trip report once you get it going! :thumbsup2

Welcome back, Joh!

And, whoa! 1873...that's a lot of pictures! I thought we took a lot on our last trip, as we took a little more than 1400. But then again, ours were almost all of the food we ate! :lmao:
And I see that you have started your Trip Report. Or at least the Index for your Trip Report.

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, here is the LINK. :thumbsup2

I second that! :p

That cheesecake is truly amazing! :lovestruc

I bet I know what you had for dessert at Narcoossee's! ;)

Here is the LINK to Joh's TR, although when I last checked it was just the Index. ;)

At her dinner at 'Ohana tonight, Vicki (GoofySon'sMom) did not get a margarita. Nor did she get a Lapu Lapu.

Here is the delicious cocktail that Vicki chose...

Pineapple Upside-Down Martini
SKYY Infusions Pineapple Vodka, Frangelico, Piña Colada Mix, and freshly squeezed Lemon Juice

Vicki said this was amazing! :thumbsup2

And so, this was Vicki's last "live" update. Sadly, she and her family will heading back home tomorrow. But the good news is that she will soon be starting her Dining Reviews. And if the preview pics were any indication, I think her full report is going to be awesome! :thumbsup2 So thanks again Vicki for all the great updates and safe travels home tomorrow! :)

For the September trippers, so far only Becky (BlovesC) has graciously agreed to provide us with some "live" updates. (Thanks again, Becky :thumbsup2) If anyone else might be willing to do this, please post here or send me a PM. It really is quite easy and hopefully fun too. You just take a pic with your phone, add a brief description, and send it to me. I will do all the rest of the work for you. Oh, and in case it makes a difference in your texting/phone plan, I have an IPhone. ;)

I,m still trying to decide if I go for live upadates, since the Wi-Fi at the Dolphin is not free andI don't think we're bringing my phone (Samsung) since it would be to expensive to use. I'm hearing the Wi-Fi in the parks is really slow?

Thanks for posting the links to the other dining reports! I'm so not going to get anything done at work before I leave on vacation. :)

You might recall that I promised you a Grand Finale to my Dining Report. Well, this afternoon I finally had that "Grand Finale". While this final chapter of my Dining Report does not directly pertain to Disney Dining, there were certain related elements.

Such as this (Mickey) sign that was made by DD2 to welcome our guests to our Central Illinois town, located on Route 66...

003CA59B-3EB4-46C6-9CCA-624FE8CF5D77-28090-00003E67CE9B9113-1.jpg

Oh, and of course there was food involved, such as this...

Mini-Cheesecakes from "That's So Sweet" of Lexington, Illinois
Flavors: Caramel Toffee, Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon, Butter Pecan, White Chocolate Raspberry, & Peanut Butter Cup.

And our guests are very much Disney World fans :earsgirl:...or at least one of them is. ;)

But on this vacation they decided to do something different, something like getting their "Kicks on Route 66". :car:
And so, after flying into Chicago from London on Saturday, their road trip along Route 66 to Los Angeles officially began today.

And luckily for me, one of their first stops was here...

Just in case you do not yet recognize these world travelers, here is a little closer shot...

Me and Linda (Linda67) & her DH, Philip

Yes folks, I am pleased to say that today I got to meet someone who was once just one of my DIS idols, but now I am very happy to call her my friend. :goodvibes

After having some lunch together, which most definitely included the delicious mini-cheesecakes ;), we took some group photos like this...

Linda, Philip, and the whole Jabead family (minus DH, who was taking the picture)

But DH did get to be in this picture...

Philip, Linda, Barb, and Don

Oh, and there is one more thing that I must show you. Linda brought me a gift bag full of goodies from London, including this...

And so my summer began with my oldest daughter graduating from college, which was then celebrated by taking a wonderful Mother/Daughter trip to Disney World. This was followed by three months of writing this Dining Report, during which time I have gotten to know so many great people here on the DIS. Then on this Labor Day holiday, my summer came to a wonderful conclusion with the meeting of a very special couple, who came all the way from London to eat cheesecake with me. ;) Yes folks, I have had a truly great summer! :thumbsup2 Thank you to everyone here who has joined me along the way. :goodvibes

P.S. While this concludes my Dining Report, I am hoping that this thread will remain active for awhile, as I have a few volunteers who have graciously agreed to send me "live" updates during their upcoming trips. I will then post these here for everyone to enjoy. So please stay tuned. :thumbsup2

Barb, I loved your dining report. That notebook is just epic. Linda totally got you the perfect present.

I always thought that Wi-Fi was one of the things you were paying for with the Swan and Dolphin Resorts required resort fee. But apparently that's not true??? Anyway, I wouldn't want anyone to have to pay a lot of money in order to send/post live updates. So I would say to just enjoy your trip, take lots of pics, and be sure to do a nice, long Dining Report when you get home. ;)

We will be in WDW Sept 16-29 and I'm glad to text over 'live' photos :)

That would be great, Ginamarie! I'll send you a PM with my number soon. :thumbsup2

Been there, done that! :lmao:

A lot of my pictures were of food too ;) I have started my TR - am up to Day 1 so far

Going over to read about Day 1 now! :woohoo:

What a fantastic finale! I LOVE Linda's dining reviews, it's awesome that you two are friends offline as well now! That notebook was such a perfect gift, I love it! You have a beautiful family Barb, and THOSE CHEESECAKES are making me drool!

This was truly the most legendary of dining threads ever to hit the DIS, my hat is off to Barb for the incredible amount of work she's put in! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Agreed with everything! That Dis meet sounded like the perfect way to end the summer and 'officially' conclude the dining review (although I'm definitely looking forward to more live updates in the future)! This thread has been so much fun to read, and there's still more to look forward to! popcorn::

What a fantastic finale to your DR! How fun that you guys had a DISmeet outside of WDW! Those mini chesecakes look so yummy! Thanks for the great report, it definitely kept me entertained all summer. :goodvibes

Barb I was thrilled to read this grand finale update!!! BOTH of YOU are truly Dis dining board LEGENDS around here so it is fitting that both of you were able to provide a wonderful closure to this AWESOME dining report. Very welll done!!!

Your family looks like they did a great job making your UK visitors welcome. I'm sure Linda is just as blessed to have met you and your family!!

You make me want to rebook another WDW trip so I can continue to actively participate in the live reports of this thread! :rotfl: Perhaps I can start a live from Disneyland food thread. :confused3 Somehow that is just not the same or as exciting.

I'm with Mr. DDW and awaiting all the fun of those who will be checking in and sharing a little bit of their trips with us. popcorn::

Since this is your grand finale, I guess it is time I chime in. I have been quietly following along through your entire report! And, I have very much enjoyed it!

Thank you for not only writing your report, but also for going above and beyond by starting a list of all the active reports AND be willing to post all these live updates!

I look forward to reading what's next!

Aw Barb, love your grand finale :worship: I am so glad that you got to meet up with Linda and Philip. I hope she is bringing me back some of those awesome mini cheesecakes ;)

I can't wait to hear about their road trip :)
