I can't wait to hear how it went too!!

:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for your support. I loved it! Stuck to my plan of run2walk1 for most of the race, especially in the beginning after the crowd thinned out. Thank goodness cause there was about .75 mile uphill that I wasn't anticipating and it really knocked the wind out of my sail so to speak. I tolerated the heat and sun surprisingly well.

Clock time was 43:28, waiting for the chip time to be posted.

Biggest disappointment was the shirt sizing was way off, all the women complained - what should have been a women's M was about a toddler 4T. Seriously.

Looking for my next race and will hopefully find a 10K before November.

Thanks again everyone.

Yah! I'm glad it went well for you.
I still get nervous for races and I've done a LOT of 5K's, many 10K's, a couple of 12K's and 11 half marathons!
I love the advice and support that everyone on this board gives.

Keep going with your running/walking.
Sounds like you have a great training plan that will get you ready for the next race and any new distances you choose to do!

Great job on your first race. Any future races will be easier since you know what to expect. Good luck with your training!

Checking back in after the 5K last Saturday. I screwed up timing myself, and wanted to wait for the official results to be posted.

There were around 22 runners in the 5K, so a very small race. I finished in 28:35.19 according to the race timers, and was very glad to make it in under 30 minutes.

As a way to unwind after all the pressure I put on myself, I went out for a run on Tuesday night, didn't pay attention to the time or, really, how far I ran; I just ran until it got too dark to see the sidewalk. It was a useful exercise in just enjoying the experience instead of using the run to rate myself. Kind of like enjoying the journey instead of just focusing on the destination.

Thanks for all the words of advice and encouragement.

You are going to do great!!

You can only have one "first" 5k, so it'll be a lot of fun for you, no matter what. Nothing new, just stay hydrated like everyone says, and have fun, because you know you can do it, and you know you will do well.

You'll also be surprised about how the atmosphere and the adrenaline of the race will just get you going! :cool1:

go run!! :thumbsup2

BUSY with work ... but ...

Well, after analyzing all outdoor my runs times I was so shocked to see that 5K was by far my fastest time!

My next race is Saturday in the Freihofer's Run for Women in Albany!

Thanks everyone, your support is truly inspiring.

Congrats!
I did my first 5k a few months ago with my 13 year old DD. The whole race, I kept asking her "Is there anyone behind us?". :rotfl2: When she answered yes, I feel so relieved to not be last! ;) Although, after seeing this video, I WANT to be last at a Disney race! :rotfl2: http://youtu.be/VUmrVGsrR-o
