Fireworks

A while back I read somewhere about new technology that launches the fireworks without creating the smoke we now get. I know nothing about this process, so I wasn't sure exactly how it would work, but I can imagine the fireworks without all the smoke....AWESOME! I have always wished there was a way to get rid of that smoke which really detracts from the presentation. Has anyone else seen this or heard anything about it?

I think that it was only in California for now. I'm sure that it will be standard practice at all of the parks before long.

There was a compressed air launch system but I don't know what became of it. It was more for a timing/safety benifit than the "smoke free" benifit though.

Actually, I think the smoke was a big issue in California. See the video in the link below. Also, I understand that Illuminations already uses this techonology (or an earlier version of compressed air launch) in part.

So does this system eliminate the smoke? The last time we saw Illuminations, there was a lot of smoke but that was in fall of 2002.

I believe they will start using this technology for the 50th anniversary fireworks show in Disneyland CA. From what I know Disney is letting others use this technology as well!

One of my best friends lives near the park and said that the smoke was causing issues with some of the residents, so this will help stop the neighborhood complaints.

I thought the compressed air launch was just a safer way to get the shells into the air & had nothing to do with smoke. Isn't WDW using the new system during Wishes for those "machine gun fire" type white "fans" from the castle ?

It does reduce the ground level smoke significantly. Look at the video in my link above.
