My youngest (3) is a big scaredy cat, especially of loud noises -- I was wondering if watching fireworks from IASW is less intense/quieter than from the hub? In WDW last year, we staked out a perfect spot for over an hour for Illuminations and as soon as it started, my husband had to leave with her because she was so scared and we only watched the fireworks from our hotel after that. We were hoping to watch the fireworks show, but would hate to spend all that time holding a spot only to have to leave again.

If anything, viewing from IASW will be louder since you are closer to where they shoot off a majority the fireworks (Toon Town). I would think about watching from Main Street Station or back farther on Main Street and bring a pair of earplugs for her. :)

The fireworks are loud almost anywhere on Disney property if you are outside. I live 20 minutes away and I can still hear them (not very loud, but can definately hear them).

They are probably the loudest at IASW.

Think about how far away your husband had to go before she was OK. Now that you understand they are launched from Toon Town, think about where you might need to go for her to feel comfortable. Watching from the end of main street (the end nearest the entrance) is probably your best balance between seeing most of the show while still being far enough away for your daughter.

Thanks everyone for saving me from a big mistake at IASW. My husband actually took her inside a building last year. So maybe we'll try the end of main street this time and if it still doesn't work, one of us can just run back to the hotel with her since we are staying at the GCH.

Bring ear plugs! The fireworks are so magical. We could hear them from our hotel a few blocks away, even with earplugs but they would mute the noise slightly.

I am very conscious of the firework noise in Disneyland, having been in a firework accident as a child. The past couple years, I have been able to watch the shows at Disneyland (the noise is what bothers me most at this point). I have found that watching the show on mainstreet is the best because there is music going on, whereas in other areas of the park the noise of the explosions is more noticable. I found I do best when I can SEE the fireworks, and I know exactly when the noise is coming. The worst possible place to be during the fireworks is in CA because the booms seem MUCH louder and echo. The best place to be if you don't want to see or hear them is in the Rainforest cafe. I realize this is out of the way of the park, but if you are heading home when they start and want to duck in somewhere to avoid the noise, the gift shop there is the best in DTD.

I hope you find what works best for your family so that you can all enjoy the show! Have a magical trip :)
