beckygeez said:Ok, let me clarify - if I have a tripod, set to the settings that you said Kelly, but I don't have an IS lens, do I have a prayer at taking pictures even half as good as you!? Cuz I'd be happy with half as good, really!
Your pictures are awesome! If mine don't turn out, I'm just going to make copies of yours (j/k)![]()
Becky, with a tripod, the settings recommended, and proper focus on the castle, you'll get the pictures you want. I have the same camera and took my first shots of Wishes in January. I used f/13 and kept the shutter open for about 4-6 seconds (bulb setting). I think f/10 at 2 seconds would have worked better - less light trails overwhelming the photo.

and

are examples. My battery died (Doh!) halfway through the show so I missed some better shots. Defnitely keep shooting. You'll take scores of shots for the perfect few.
As for tripods, I used a Slik as well. It's small enough to fit into a backpack and store in a locker. There's a few spots on Main Street where CMs create pathway for people to cross. I set up right at the edge of one of those so that no one was right in frontn of the camera.
Good luck, and post results!
