On a day I am not using a park hopper, is there a place outside of the parks to see Wishes AND Illuminations? Wishes is at 8:45 and Illuminations 9pm the day I'm looking at. How long does it take to drive from GF to the Boardwalk?

I know you can see Wishes from the Contemporary hotel... I would assume you can see it outside the park fairly easily. You can also see it from the Poly, and stand on the beach there. I THINK you have to be a guest to stand down there, not sure...

As far as Illuminations, the show itself is really on the water, so you might be able to view the higher fireworks from the Boardwalk area, but you miss the gist of the show. Make sense? Its not just a traditional fireworks show. =)

There's NO way that you're gonna get to see both shows on the same night from outside the park with only a 15 minute difference in their starting times! :(

You could see Wishes from the Contemporary. There's a couple of observation decks. Ask any cast member for directions.

Maybe then just stay at Epcot late enough to view Illuminations? It really is worth it to be right on the lake. It's breathtaking!

Good luck! :)

In the above question you said you had to be a guest at the Poly to see the fireworks on the beach. What if you are eating supper at Ohana's and then want to go and watch them. Can this be done?

The beach is supposed to be for guests of the Polynesian only. BUT, you could make your dinner reservations at 'OHana to coincide with Wishes starting, and have a dinner show! :)

So, if I don't need a real good view, theres no hillside spot to sort of look one way and see wishes fireworks and then another and see epcots fireworks? Or on the top of a parking garage somewhere?

How long are each of the shows? Theres no chance to drive from GF right after wishes to Boardwalk for Illuminations in five minutes? I won't have any access to the parks that day so it would have to be an out of the parks viewing.

Hoping for a "trick" but OK with just catching one of them. Thanks for your help!

At my BWV 2 bedroom villa overlooking the Boardwalk, we could see both the Magic Kingdom fireworks and Illuminations from our balcony. Really beautiful sight.

Not sure if there is anywhere public on the Boardwalk where this view can be attained, but if there is, be sure not to miss it.

Most of the Illuminations action takes place on the surface of the water, or at relatively low altitudes. You can see *some* of the Illuminations fireworks from outside the park (the YC/BC dock area, for instance), but you'll miss the majority of the action.

As far as I know, the only spots that might be high enough to afford a bit of a view of both would be hotel rooms... not publicly accessible spots.

I'd vote for choosing which of the shows you most want to see, and positioning yourself the best you can to fully enjoy that one. They are both breathtaking!:sunny:

There would be no time to drive from one location to another. Wishes I believe is 20 minutes long, so Illuminations would have already started by the time Wishes is over. If you will be in either Epcot or MK on one of the days when you are using your park hopper maybe you could just watch the show there then, and find a great spot outside the other park to see the other show on the day you dont use your ticket.

Are you staying on property? Well here is an idea I guess you could do it even if you weren't just take the DTD Bus to MK. We you get off the bus stand in the covered area where the Ferry takes you from the TTC to the main entrance. The view of wishes is great here and no need to worry about being a guest or having a ticket that day. Or from Poly Beach, we did this once. BUT, the do pipe in music in the covered ferry area for Wishes at the Ferry Dock and I personally think the view is better there. Just take the DTD Bus to the TTC awhile before the start time OR if you are staying on property than the hotels bus to TTC and walk to the Ferry Dock.
