Hi- we are going to Disney the week of Sept 21-28 under the FTP. We would like to see the MK fireworks from the California Grill. We have never been to this resturant before. Can you see the fireworks from any seat or do you have to get PS for a specific section of the resturant? How close to the fireworks schedule do we need to book our time? Any help would be appreciated. Also what type of food do they serve at the California Grill?

Here are two threads I posted regarding the California Grill and the MK fireworks...
Thread One

Thread Two

Regarding which seats are the best, I have heard that window seats would be the best, but have also heard they have a deck which people can go out on for the fireworks.

Let's see what else have I heard, you should make your PS for about an hour to hour and a half before the fireworks.

The schedule for fireworks that week is Tuesday the 22nd at 8pm and Saturday the 27th at 9pm.

As far as the food CG serves, here is the description from www.disneyworld.com
Cuisine:
Californian and American

Specialties:
Market-fresh creations, all expertly prepared in an on-stage kitchen. A large selection of California wines is available to complement your meal.

have you checked the fireworks schedule for the week you will be there? i would suggest booking about 1 hour before fireworks are scheduled. that way if you have to wait then you have a built in cushion. the very best place is by the windows. request this upon arriving at the restaurant. just be warned others will most likely stand near your table to see the fireworks also. we did not really have this problem. as far as recommendations as to what to order, everything is fabulous!! have you looked the menu for the california grill? this would be helpful. happy dining! http://wdwig.com/menu/menu_cg.htm

Just a tip, keep in mind we were there both times in June, but we had PS an hour before fireworks during our 2000 trip and when we put in a request for a window seat, the hostess politley said, we'll be lucky if we can seat you for the fireworks at all. All the people here don't plan on leaving an hour or 30 minutes before the fireworks". The only tables available were on the other side of the CG with now MK view. We were crushed so we watched from the observation deck which was unromantic and crowded.
For our next trip, the Dreams Unlimited agent we used suggested we make our PS time for atleast 1 hr and half to 2hours before fireworks. Little did I know we got the best window seat for dinner which allowed my now fiance to propose!!! Anyway, we had a leisurely meal, and the waiters expect you are going to stay for the fireworks so you can order each course separately, then digest before having dessert. Then, in my case, when the show was half way over, get proposed to!
My point is, make the PS EARLY! You are not only more likely to get seated for the show, but get a seat where you can see the show.:)
