Any opinions on watching the fireworks from here?

Just some info...we do not want to have to stake out a spot on Main Street hours before and fireworks are not really a huge priority for either me or my niece. But I heard someone mention once they watched from here and I am thinking that might be a good option for us. I know we won't see everything, but is it still decent?

Thanks!

Great Question! I'll be tagging along on this one.
When we're there in March I figured if we took the time for Fireworks, we'd try for a spot in this area too.

I've never watched the fireworks from there, but I will say that we've never had a problem just getting to Main Street 10 or 15 minutes before they start and having a decent view. We were just there Saturday, November 15, when it was pretty crowded, and that's what we did. (There are four of us, including kids ages 8 and 11.) So you definitely don't need to stake out a spot an hour in advance to watch from the middle of Main Street.

Well, we got lucky once and the fireworks started right as we got onto Storybook Land Canal Boats (which is very close to It's a Small World). Since they stop the ride once the first firework goes off, we had a great view. Sitting on the water was an amazing way to watch them.

The fun thing about watching in front of IASW is that they project images onto the ride façade during the fireworks show, so you can watch that in addition to the fireworks going off! Not sure exactly when your trip is but they do this during the Holiday Fireworks as well.

We watched from there last summer and really enjoyed it!

So yes, if camping out for the perfect spot on Main Street and/or not being worried about missing anything that might be happening at the front of the castle isn't a concern for you I'd say IASW is a great spot! :)

Just as jammyjam25 said that watching the fireworks from IASW Plaza is a nice way to see the firework show from a different angle and the projections on the facade on IASW which makes interesting. I have seen people show up about less than 5 minutes until the fireworks and able to see it in a nice spot at the Plaza with the projections on the facade and the fireworks. Seeing it from this spot is not the best where the best is in front of SB Castle but this is a good second option if you don't want to stake out a spot on Main Street. But during the busy seasons like Christmas break will require some wait time unlike during the off-season on the weekends and average days which could be in that 5-10 minute wait time range.

Here are some pictures from IASW Plaza from Remember Dreams Come True fireworks in October this year. You can tell from the facade of IASW that there are projection during the fireworks

You will miss a few of the smaller fireworks that are set off to the sides of the castle, and even if you turn your neck, there are trees blocking them, so they are hard to see. Also the fireworks are meant to be centered over and around the castle, so you would miss that magical effect (if that's important to you). But otherwise, watching the fireworks from Small World isn't bad. It's not too crowded, and you can sit on the pavement and rest a bit. As the PP said, they project the same images onto the Small World building that they do the castle, and it snows there during the holiday show, so you don't miss the best bits. :)

We happened to be over there when the fireworks started last trip and liked it. As a PP mentioned, they show pictures on the facade, they pipe in the music and it isn't crowded.

Thanks everyone! Seems like this will be a great option for us!

We watch the fireworks from the Small World mall when we happen to be in the park already but fireworks are not the priority. The best show is in front of the Castle because you get the fireworks shot off from the castle and also the ones behind the park.

But like others, I rarely will camp out for a spot right in front of the castle because I don't want to spend hours there. We do it twice a year, once for summer fireworks to see Dumbo fly and once for the holiday fireworks to see the whole show, including projections on the castle, etc.

But the Small World mall or plaza is our go-to spot on other visits. We especially like the mall area about 1/2 way between Story Book Canal boats and Small World plaza during the holiday fireworks. We can see both sets of fireworks by turning our heads and still see the projections on SM. Plus during the holidays, we found this area to have the best snow machines :thumbsup2

Advantages to viewing from IASW are far fewer crowds, easy access to popcorn, and quick access to the restroooms (by the Fantasyland Theater). With our kids, these were big priorities. :) Also, the holiday projections on the IASW facade are fun and really add to the show.
