My parents will be coming with us to DL this trip and I was wondering if it would be acceptable to bring those folded padded stadium seats for them for waiting for the fireworks and F! I don't mean a camp chair, but just the square pads that fold open and have straps on the side to hold the back up.

I would think these would be acceptable since they don't make you taller or take up alot more room than a person, but I don't want to get dirty looks if they are a problem for some reason that I am not thinking of (other than hauling them around before hand).

I personally would not have a problem with that. I think reasonable accommodations should be made and at the least tolerated. However, you would have to stake a claim enough time in advance down at the train station for those to work, or be okay sitting on the edge of the sidewalk with a slanted view. Every time that I've watched the fireworks people typically just stand in the middle of main street so they might block your view. I guess it would be okay, if you're okay with waiting and the possiblilty someone may be in your way. Hope all goes well (:

I don't think that would be a problem at all--especially if you're just using them for waiting. People spread out huge blankets to claim their spot while waiting.

its a reasonable request but as far as im aware, you wont be able to get past security with those chairs..maybe you can talk to someone in guest services and see if they can accomodate you in some way..i know that for parades and fireworks they do have a handicapped area and for parade they use the benches and also before the fireworks they do position benches in a certain area for people so maybe they can let you have one

I would like to bring in something similar for my mom too but I searched the Disney website and found this:

•Folding chairs, with the exception of cane-chair and seat-walker mobility aids•Glass containers, with the exception of baby food containers, medicine or small perfume bottles (under 4 oz)
•Water pistols, toy guns and replica weapons, with the exception of those sold in the Disneyland Resort
•Sporting goods or equipment (e.g., baseball bats, helmets, hockey sticks, golf clubs, bows and arrows, camping equipment, chairs, stools, tables and Frisbees)

so maybe if they have a walker that doubles as a seat it might be OK?

It looks like a padded seat cushion but two together when folded, correct? Whe you seperate the two they are conected and form a pad as a seat and one as a back rest.
If that is it then we saw people using them at F! last week.

Yes, that is what I was thinking of. This should be a link to one: http://www.promo-wholesale.com/Upfiles/Prod_m/Folding-Stadium-Seat_20090678455.jpg

I don't want to haul around anything bigger, even though we will be coming back from our hotel in the afternoon. Also you would be taller than all the other people around you on any other type of chair which wouldn't work. I hadn't thought about people standing up in front of us, but we'll be waiting much longer than we will be actually watching the fireworks. Sitting for the wait and then standing for the show would be fine.
That bit from the Disney website has me a bit concerned, but I guess if worst came to worst and we hauled them around we could just leave them folded and sit on them as a straight pad.

I have seen them refused at bag check. If you can get them through bag check, your plan might work, but when we were there on the 4th, people were being sent back to their hotel/cars with them.

I suggest they wait on a bench if it's a problem, and if it is get them a Guest Assitance Card in Guest Services in either park so they can sit during the show as well.
