Fireworks Dessert Party

We did it and loved it, but know that it's hard to book, and VERY expensive. I think it was cheaper when we did it. The prices are similar to what you'd pay for a dinner buffet. The view of the fireworks is amazing, and it's a nice and relaxed atmosphere. If that is worth about $50 per person to you, then go for it. I'm happy we did it once, but I'm not sure I'd do it again due to the price increases. I think we got a better value for the Illuminations boat cruise. It's $300 or so, but you can bring up to 10 people with you. That one is definitely fantastic!

We LOVED it... Less for the desserts than for the convenience of not having to be in a huge crowd. The desserts were good though.

One word of warning.. Not sure when you're going but they (as of this moment) aren't booking it past July 4th. Hopefully that changes as I'm looking for a reservation myself, but I'm just waiting.

We did at Xmas, with the huge holiday crowds it was worth it to me. The desserts were good, they brought some sugar free things for dh. There was room for everyone to watch from the railing area without being crowded. The view was really good! It was just nice to not be squished in huge holiday crowds. We normally travel in The fall and I wouldn't pay for it then. But at Xmas it was priceless!

It's not $50 a person. We paid $70 for 2 adults and a child for our upcoming trip.

We loved it, one of my favorite nights at MK ever.

I thought it was priced reasonably for Disney (well at least compared to the other events they sell now!). It doesn't offer alcohol so that helps with the pricing as opposed to other events.

I think it's definitely something to do once if it's in the budget.

We did it once a couple of years ago and have booked it again for our upcoming Spring Break trip. The desserts are good and the view of the fireworks is about as perfect as you can hope for. It was nice not to have to spend "hours" plotting and planning and staking out a spot for the show and even nicer not to have to stand "shoulder to waistline" next to sweaty strangers who always seem to be so much taller than me!

YMMV. Mainly the reason I've done this is to have a nice viewing space away from the crowds - The desserts were a far distant second. (If you've eaten at any of the buffets at WDW the desserts are about the same quality as those) With the new FP+ viewing areas for the fireworks I think you'll get a better view and, they're free.

Note you can't really see the MSEP from the party either.

That said, I've done them several times and enjoyed them.

so is there a secret to booking it. I have not found a slot during any of our 6 day stay in May.

I think it's usually best to book at 180 days, probably even at 6am. I don't think it's as bad as BOG, but I could be wrong. I booked mid-March 180 days @ 6am and didn't have a problem.

My son, DIL and myself did it a few years ago and while it was interesting I wouldn't do it again. There was a big ole beam where our table was (assigned tables) and when it came time for the fireworks everyone got up and went to the railing in front of us so unless you stood up and got in someone else's way you didn't get a good view. The desserts were o.k. there were plenty of them but let's face it, can you really eat more than two desserts? I did the fast pass viewing last Sept. and found it o.k. The only problem with that was it's on the lawn of the rose garden so you have to sit on wet grass, I always have a poncho with me so I just spread that out.

It wasn't available 180 days in advance for May. When I called a few weeks later when it still wasn't there they said the earliest would be 90 days ahead. I looked online at 70/75 days out and they were sold out!

I had been trying for quite awhile to get a reservation for myself and my husband. Then I read on another feed on here that it is near impossible to get a reservation for 2 as they only have like 1 or 2 tables at each event designated for 2 people. So I went back on the disney site and put in 3 people and a time showed up! Guess I'll pay for 3 people; it's during our 15th anniversary trip so it's worth it to us!

They'll probably refund the cost of your "missing person."

Sorry. I had forgotten that they did that. It's really annoying and hypocritical when they don't follow the rules they set forth for us. It seems they keep doing this for the special things like this, the Illuminations dessert party, and BOG lunch:(

We did the dessert party on Christmas Day 2014. It was one of our favorite things about the trip, and we'd definitely do it again. The tables are assigned, so there's no rush to get seats up front. As previous posters mentioned, many people go to the railing to view the fireworks. During our event there was plenty of room for everyone that wished to stand. We preferred this experience to the Illuminations Dessert Party, which we attended on Christmas Eve. Don't know that we'd do the Epcot experience again.

I booked the party in early December for our trip this May. It was available at 180 days.

Really? I called early December to ask what the hold up was. Oh well. I feel like the more I research it, it isn't for me. I don't want to fight people for a position to view the fireworks at a paid party!
