Anyone hear or see the fireworks last night, from Epcot? It was about 12:20am and we heard them loud and clear from BCV. We assumed they were from DTD at first, but just looked out the window and they were bigger than life! They couldn't have been from any other place. But the park was closed at that time. Anyone know?

Or yet again someone with lots of $$ may have had a private showing of Illuminations. I've heard of people having private fireworks shown at MGM for weddings, etc.

Interesting about the private showing. The fireworks each night are VERY loud here in our room, so I don't think we missed much of them. They lasted just a few minutes, so maybe it was a test. It was a finale though, tons at once.

If it was just the finale, it was more than likely the test run of the New Years Eve show finale. They do that a couple times prior to New Years to make sure they have the timing and music aligned correctly.

Seems a very odd time to do testing IMO, but I can see that they would have to do testing on them.

They're doing testing. We received a message while staying at the Boardwalk that they were doing firework testing at Epcot.

My friend was also at Boardwalk this week, and she told me that they told her as well. We weren't told anything about it over here. No biggie, I was just curious if I had missed something! lol

Epcot is open 365 days a year.

IllumiNations runs 365 nights a year.

So exactly WHEN ELSE would they be able to conduct a test?

I know that on Oct 25 they ran the fireworks very late also. It was my dd's 13th birthday, we were at BWV. It was about midnight when fireworks started over in WS. We had been up late at the late HDDR show, so hopped out of bed to see the fireworks 'in Katie's honor'!!! It wasn't the final get rid of the excess gases, but real, honest to goodness fireworks. Went on for about a minute or so.
When we were at BCV a year or so ago, they sent a voice mail to our rooms telling us that they were going to be testing the 4th of July fireworks show between midnight and 3 a.m. And they did....at about 1:30ish the sky lit up and the show started.

I heard that they occassionaly have misfires during Illuminations. Any shells still left in their tubes after the show are discharged later in the evening. It doesn't happen very often.

this happened to us a few years ago as well - it was my birthday so I said they were for me

but then I found out they were testing out the finale for new years
