I have been reading that these have resumed at Universal. I am only familiar with Disney’s fireworks and shows.
What can you tell me about this? When? Where? How do they compare to Disney?

It is only on select nights. Have to check universal website/app to see if it will be there - usually on nights it is opened later. It is just a few fireworks and mostly a water screen show with clips from movies and music playing. it's nice!

It's pyrotechnics, movie clip projections on a water screen, water cannon fountain things blasting water in cool patterns, and music. It was cool.

Get there early enough, or you have to watch from behind bushes which is still neat but obviously not ideal.

If you're used to Disney fireworks and shows I have a feeling this between an "that's kind of cool" and "alright" experience.

Universal doesn't have a big massive fireworks display due to what @bchbetha said, although a few times while staying on property I've heard a few pyrotechnics at one particular point (at night) so perhaps they have a little bit towards the end (as I haven't heard it go off for a long duration of time each time I stayed and heard it).

I've watched the show online and (while I know it isn't the same as being there) I wasn't as impressed as I have been with other Disney shows (even watching some only online) which is why I've never tried to go out of my way to see it in person. While it's cool to look at and has great effects, however compared to Disney (since most of their shows has so many elements) it's not at the same level, or greater in my opinion.

A lot of the entertainment (at least for me) was based on whether I liked the franchise, or film they were focusing on. The lights, projections, and water effects are great, but those are happening for almost the entire duration of the show, so the only difference was moments in which they would focus only on the projections/water effects, or showing a new film. So, for me, when they focused on something in particular I wasn't a huge fan of, or watched for 3-5 minutes I would keep thinking "okay when is the next thing". Also, I might be biased since I do not watch, or like a ton of Dreamworks stuff, but I thought it was strange/didn't enjoy how much they focused on films that don't even have attractions and more so than the actual Dreamworks film that does have an attraction.

Also, have to consider you have to be standing for the duration of the show to really get a good view it seems so depending on if you're tired, or not will probably effect whether you'd enjoy yourself too.

We actually really liked this show - and we are HUGE Disney fireworks fans, LOVED wishes and we have planned nights in the past around being in our favorite place in the Hub to watch Happily Ever After. That being said, we saw this show over Thanksgiving weekend and we really liked it, enough that we went back earlier the next night to get a spot in the "prime" viewing area. Considering the times that we are in and that Disney isn't doing any sort of nighttime show, we thought it was an awesome experience to actually be seeing a nighttime show with fireworks, and if you view it from the front, the water projections are really cool, as are the effects from the shooting water. We first viewed it near Mel's and that was good but from straight on it's great! We got there about 45 minutes ahead of time to claim our "spot", they are marked out on the ground, and then the staff would let us go and come to get treats, use the bathroom, etc. It was so refreshing to end our night with a nighttime show, it actually felt just for a moment like we were doing something "normal". Try it, you might like it! But if you can, get a spot in the viewing area that is marked off, it's worth it!
