I know Im not the only one that carries, some times on my person (I have a CWP) always in the truck and camper. Does FTW have any rules about no firearms? Now that said, I have no plans on carrying while Im at the parks or around at the FT. BUT I always have something in the RV when traveling (you just never know, Id rather have one and not need it, then to need it and not have one)

The reason I ask, is that I once went to the Grand Tetons and Yellow Stone National. When we go to the the front gate there was a HUGE sign that said "NO FIREARMS" I thought what the HECK (ya right) I didnt say anything when I checked in but what was I to do? I just drove 2k miles, I wasnt about the check my gun (infact I dont remember seeing anything that said you could), soooo I just unloaded it, removed the slide, and stored it.

Just wondering if ther was an official policy that addressed firearms

I'm pretty sure there is no firearm on Disney property rule. I know it was listed on the information sheet they give you at check-in at one time. I'm like you, I carry on a regular basis and have a concealed weapons permit. I don't like the idea of traveling without one. By the way, I am a school teacher and have never carried a gun on school property.

let's just say, what Disney doesn't know .I, like a lot of other RVs carry onboard for what might happen on the road.Keep it locked away safely and don't ask/don'.t tell

I adhere to the "dont' ask, cause I won't tell", but I don't have a CWP so that is out. The one place I would never try to sneak a weapon anywhere is into Canada, but anywhere else I don't worry about including military bases and would never consider having one in the tow vehicle.

Good plan Larry. :)

Permit or not, you bring a gun here you're gonna have a heap of trouble!

If you run across anyone in Canada who carries a gun it's either a cop or a criminal.

We always have our S&W 357 with us. You never know when you are travelling if you are going to need it.

I say, don't tell nobody nutt'n,,
keep'em all guessing, :thumbsup2

do ya feel lucky punk,,well, do ya ? ...:lmao:

My husband has a concealed weapons permit and carries his gun at all times. The thing is that his permit is only good in PA where we are from. Needless to say that when we drive to Disney in 3.5 weeks he will be extremely nervous about not having it on him, as will I.

To quote the Buffalo Springfield band - "paranoia runs deep".

Tell that to the guy who was at my local walmart and was robbed and shot at in the parking lot. When the perp shot at him and missed he took out his gun and shot the perp in the knee. Or tell that to my husband's friend's father who was also in a parking lot and someone was angry that he took a parking spot and tried to beat him with a lead pipe. He grabbed his weapon and scared off the criminal. I don't live in a bad part of town, but you never know when something bad is going to happen.

What Disney doesn't know won't hurt them. It is not unusual for me to stay in my camper alone (friends/fiends might be nearby, but in other sites), and I intend to be able to defend myself if necessary. That said, as private property Disney may ask you to leave if they know you have a weapon & you are required by law to leave. The applicable law pertaining to carrying guns follows. Basically, you can pack if you want, without any permit, so long as it takes you 2 steps before you could fire. The other item that is also a part of F.S. 790, is that if you are stopped by a police officer, you must advise them immediately that you are armed and where the weapon is.

RV/Car Carry Without A Permit/License
790.25 Lawful Ownership, Possession, and Use of Firearms and Other Weapons
(5) Possession in Private Conveyance.--Notwithstanding subsection (2), it is lawful and is not a violation of s. 790.01 for a person 18 years of age or older to possess a concealed firearm or other weapon for self-defense or other lawful purpose within the interior of a private conveyance, without a license, if the firearm or other weapon is securely encased or is otherwise not readily accessible for immediate use. Nothing herein contained prohibits the carrying of a legal firearm other than a handgun anywhere in a private conveyance when such firearm is being carried for a lawful use. Nothing herein contained shall be construed to authorize the carrying of a concealed firearm or other weapon on the person. This subsection shall be liberally construed in favor of the lawful use, ownership, and possession of firearms and other weapons, including lawful self-defense as provided in s. 776.012.
790.001 Definitions.-- As used in this chapter, except where the context otherwise requires:
(17) "Securely encased" means in a glove compartment, whether or not locked; snapped in a holster; in a gun case, whether or not locked; in a zippered gun case; or in a closed box or container which requires a lid or cover to be opened for access
State Preemption
790.33 Field of Regulation of Firearms and Ammunition Preempted.
(1) PREEMPTION.
Except as expressly provided by general law, the Legislature hereby declares that it is occupying the whole field of regulation of firearms and ammunition, including the purchase, sale, transfer, taxation, manufacture, ownership, possession, and transportation thereof, to the exclusion of all existing and future county, city, town, or municipal ordinances or regulations relating thereto. Any such existing ordinances are hereby declared null and void. This subsection shall not affect zoning ordinances which encompass firearms businesses along with other businesses. Zoning ordinances which are designed for the purpose of restricting or prohibiting the sale, purchase, transfer, or manufacture of firearms or ammunition as a method of regulating firearms or ammunition are in conflict with this subsection and are prohibited.

Use the link I posted above. Ever state between PA and FL (including FL) EXCEPT SC honors a PA resident CCW permit.

Something everyone should keep in mind, do you have insurance that covers you if you defend yourself?

I don't own a gun, but I respect the right for anyone else to lawfully have one. It's just not a big deal to me.

It seems like there are quite a few that pack/carry/wear/have some sort of gun in their camper. There are probably quite a few combined years of carrying here.

How many have been in situations where you felt concerned enough to pull out your weapon, load it and were considering using it while camping?

I've been camping/backpacking since I was 8 (I'm a few months shy of 50 now) and I don't think I have ever been in a situation where I wish I had a weapon. I understand the concern about "when you need one, it's better to have than not", but how many times have you really felt the need to have vs it was comfortable knowing you had?

twice.......sorta,

not so much in my RV, but I was in my truck, so still driving. Once at a stop light I had a mainiac (two cars infront of me) get out of his car and start to approach me, I just pulled it out and pointed it at him through my windshield, I had my kids with me, I wasnt taking a chance. I kept it in my truck and pointing through the windshield for I didnt want to make a big sceen, once he saw it he turned around got in his car and ran the light. I called the po-po told them what happened and gave them they guys tag number and discription, this was about 2 yrs ago

Second time was at a gas station (again driving, so I could have been in the RV) I had two guys approach me telling me how nice they thought my truck was, and was asking then INSISTING on me giving them some money, I reached for my heater, had it at my side, once they saw that they boogied.........this was about 15 yrs ago

sooooo it can and does happen

Good to know. I never take mine because i always have a serious concerns somebody will break in and steel it. You may consider letting them put it in their safe when on property. I would imagine this is common (although I would call and ask long before making the trip just in case). I wonder why SC does not have a reciprocal agreement with PA. I know NJ doesn't either...but NJ likes to make things difficult... :rolleyes1 Thanks for the info.
