No, they aren't free, or even cheap. I think the Illuminations cruise is around $300 plus tip.

You cannot rent a boat to pilot yourself at night.
You must take a cruise which is operated by a Disney boat captain.

Does anyone know what time the private fireworks cruises would depart? I am trying to plan out an evening around it and none of the blogs or sites seem to mention that detail (or I'm overlooking it)! TIA:flower1:

About 45-60 min. before the fireworks.

To see the Magic Kingdom Wishes fireworks via a cruise/boat, there are several options. If you would like to have desserts while ON the cruise/boat this is an option and the fee is per person (not per boat).

If you prefer to eat prior to the cruise but NOT ON the cruise (and be on a smaller boat), you might prefer this one:

There are probably smaller boats (seating up to six or so people) that can be reserved as well, but you have to pay for the entire boat unless you find one to share (see the link below).

To see the Illuminations Fireworks via a cruise/boat, the Breathless cruises depart from the Yatch Club. Sometimes they might provide light snacks (bottled water, bag of pretzels, etc.,) but I'm not sure that's always done. They use smaller boats (holding six to maybe twelve people...not sure on the max number but I'm sure the thread below will answer that for you).

The link below might be a helpful thread (skip to the last couple of pages on it for the most recent cruise requests). This thread is set up for folks looking to share in the cost of the Illuminations or Wishes cruises.

About 45 min. before the fireworks.

I booked a wishes cruise last night. The lady I spoke to said the boat departs 1 hour before wishes and to check in 15 minutes before then. I was also given a choice of resort to depart from (GF, Poly or Contemporary)
