Hello everyone! I have a questions about the fins you can rent at Castaway Cay. Are they the ones with the adjustable straps and if so has anyone had a problem with them irritating your feet? I keep going between renting snorkel equipment and purchasing my own. I realize it's a drag having to pack and carry your own equipment but on the other hand I don't like the idea of putting a snorkel in my mouth that been in someone else's mouth. I hope that doesn't sound rude. I don't even like sharing drinks with my own children. I figure that there must be some sort of cleaning process that they folllow on all the equipment but it still makes me alittle stand-offish.

the fins at castaway cay are not adjustible. DCL cleans there snorkel gear well. we are bringing our own snorkel gear case we just like to save the money on this excrusion for drinks or even other excrusions:crazy:

I would recommend buying your own mask & snorkel, then just wear water shoes. Disney will give you a free float vest. I have done this several times when flying to other vacations and I find I don't really need the extra speed the fins provide, since I like to go slow and see what's really going on down there.

My DD once had the DCL fins at Castaway cut into her heels--she didn't know to complain to me that they weren't fitting her correctly. Since that time, we've always brought our own equipment including fins.

You can rent fins for $9, complete snorkel sets (don't remember cost)....vests are required, but are free. So, if you have your own equipment, you snorkel for free. The cost of one rental is about the same as the cost of purchasing equipment.
