Does anyone know how they register kids with Annual Passes? Is it Magic Band only or fingerprint? This would be for a 6yr old.

The Magic Band carries no personal information on it. It links to your MDE account where the ticket information is stored. A fingerscan is used for matching the owner of the MB with the person who is using it. So, for instance, you could not purchase an AP for a child and then use it for admission to the parks for multiple children on different visits. The child's fingerscan information, not a full fingerprint, is stored in the MDE account and is tied to that ticket after its first use.

My daughter is 6, has had an AP since she was 3, and has never done the biometric fingerprint scan. All she needs to do to gain access is hold her AP/MB up to the Mickey head and wait for it to turn green.

Agree with kmb584. DS is 5. If he's too lazy to get out of the stroller, I just tap his MB to the Mickey head. Sometimes he'll climb up and do the whole adult thing, but it turns green before he can even get his finger to where the scanner is.

Kids do not have the fine motor skills for the scan. If you press too hard, it won't match. My mom's apparently got the same motor skills since the scans only work half the time. :goodvibes

It's not a fingerprint. The biometrics measure the size/shape of your finger. Just wanted to point that out.

Even though the APs are the same price for children and adults, they do not use the finger scans for children. The finger scans do work for multiple visits, even if you get new Magic Bands. The finger scans are associated with the APs, and then different Magic Bands can be associated with the same AP.
