Finger Scanning Question

We have never had to do the "finger scanning" before. When and were can we get this done? Does everyone have this done now? Our first park day will be for CP prior to park opening. Will this be a problem with the scanning?

When you enter your ticket in the turnstyle is when you do the finger scanning. It is done on all adult tickets. There will be no problems with scanning.

The only problem I noticed with the finger scanning was when people tried to put their whole hand in the scanner (it happened almost every day)

You dont have to go anywhere first. It happens when you enter the park. Two finger are placed green light then walk thru. Very simple. Strollers still go thru the gate.

The first time we used our week long tickets was early entry into Epcot for the Segway Tour and I was worried as well, since they were not "activated" yet. There was no problem. You just enter your first and middle finger (pretend like you are doing the peace sign :flower: ) into the machine and about 5 seconds later your ticket pops out the back and you are done!

Have a wonderful vacation :earsboy:

I really hate the scanners.

Not to slam the scanners but that they take too long to get someone through the gate when they have problems. YOu have a line of people waiting to get in and someone's ticket doesn't know how to use the system. When this happens it takes forever sometimes.

I agree.

Maybe they need an "Express Turnstile" for people who know how to use the scanners already. :teeth:  :scratchin

Several finger scan questions: 1) Is scanning required for all tickets or just those purchased since scanning began? 2) I have 6 tickets purchased and partially used or never used from Dec. 04. Is there a way to check which ticket was used by an individuals prior to arriving at the ticket gate? Thanks in advance ---- I don't want to hold up the line. Laura

We were just saying last week that maybe they should have a specific "annual pass" entrance. My pet peeve is when you see kids trying to scan their fingers, their pass has already gone through and they're just holding up the line.

The older tickets there is no way to tell who used them before. But this time when you use them the person that has their fingers scanned will "own" that ticket. You can write their name on the ticket.

The best way not to be held up is to find the shortest line. At MK it is over by the cast turnstile. Hardly anyone is ever in those lines. For some reason people don't want to walk over there. I very rarely wait at MK.

For some reason the scanners would not work for my mom. The CM's would assume that she was not doing it right. She would then hold up her hand with the peace sign, do the scissors motion and try again. The CM's would come around and look and then wave her through. It got to the point that I would follow Mom in line so I could tell them that she was doing it correctly in order to speed up the line. The family was placing bets on how long it would take for Mom to get through the turnstile. My DH was taking pictures of DM's frustrated face. I was amazed at how quickly the line behind us would turn ugly, making comments about the situation, like we could do anything to help it. We would even warn the folks behind us that it was going to happen. It was that way the entire week.

My DD was having that problem too. Then she turned the pass upside and made sure her fingers were clean and dry (not sweaty and no sun tan lotion) and then we were fine.

I am all for the AP turnstyle. Or even just the "Experienced" turnstyle. I do get tired waiting for people who can't figure it out.

That still wouldn't solve the problem because then you would have those people who think they are experts when they aren't holding up the line.

Actually, i agree with this! AP holders have been doing this for years and i really wish, as an added perk, they'd have 1-2 turnstiles just for AP holders. We know how to do the scan thing, lol. :teeth:
When you think about it, there are ALWAYS new people at disney so this isn't something that is going to get any better. When we were there in august, there were lines backed up at all times of day. Leaving day after tomorrow for a trip with friends, anxious to see if the problem is just as bad.

No matter if they make the AP turnstiles or not. Guests still use the turnstiles labeled "cast members" - you think an AP turnstile is going to stop them?

OK, take it easy on me guys, but what does finger scanning do? and why do you do it?

Finger scanning is a Biometrics reader that basically takes a photo measurement of bone structure...individualizing your ticket to only yourself. If you lose or misplace the ticket, noone else can use it...and prevents tickets from being passed back over the gate for multiple users.

See this Turnstyle Tips and Info Link for more information :)
