When we were at WDW last week we noticed how much the whole "finger scan" process really slowed down the lines. People were constantly having to put their cards in again, or they messed up the actual finger part. We noticed on some of the busier days, they didn't even have the scan operating at all.....I think they saw how much it was holding up traffic. It must drive the CM's nuts at times.
I understand it's done to help ensure the non-transferability of tickets/passes, but it's kind of a pain, especially when you get behind someone who apparently doesn't even understand the part about putting your card into the reader.
Sometimes what should be a fast procedure turns into a whole production. Of course, it's hard to have patience when we're waiting in line to get into the park!
