I actually hate to shop & hate trying on clothes even more. I would like to refresh my wardrobe though. For me, that's a process of ordering online & hoping it fits. If not, it goes back & I try again. I know that's not the most efficient way to shop, but it's the only way I'll do it. If I have to go on a shopping spree in the mall, I'll have the same wardrobe for 10 more years. :o Before I started shopping on the internet, I used to go shopping once in the spring & once in the fall. I'd spend an outrageous amount of money at one time & not buy another item until the next season. Why am I boring you with this babble? To let you know that suggesting the only way to buy clothes that look good is to go to a store & allow the sells person to help find clothes that flatter your figure won't help. I know myself & that's simply not going to happen.

Back to my question....... Due to poor health, I get very little meaningful exercise & have gained a few pounds. I'd like to find the style that's most flattering on my "new" body type. Does anyone know of an online site where you enter your body shape, height, etc., & they recommend the styles that would look best on you? TIA :)

Where do you carry your weight? All over, up top, in your middle, or in your hips and thighs? That will determine a lot right from the get go, when you identify the area you want to conceal.

I just did a quick google search and came up with this site, hope it helps:

Land's End has a system where you can put in your height & weight (and hair style! - so it kinda looks like you) And you can try on their clothes to see how they look. I'd be interested in finding another website that let's you build a "model" of yourself, with more of a variety of clothes.

At one time this was available at JC Penney online. I typed in all my pertinent info and it was useless. The only way it would show "curves" was to type in mega sized proportions. Hopefully someone has worked this out to function much better. I'd love to have this service available. :teeth:

If you have the TLC channel, I highly recommend watching What Not to Wear. Lots of great info on that show on how to find flattering clothes.

some things off the top of my head:
- emphasize the smallest part of you. Ex: if you have a large bust and small waist, get jackets with stitching that flatter the waist.

- no front pockets or pleats for pants

- wide leg pants. When there's a straight line from waist to floor it creates a longer leaner silhouette

Thanks for the suggestions. :) I'll check out the sites you recommended. I definitely need the help. As far as finding clothes that conceal the areas that I seem to carry the most weight in, I would need a suit that makes my whole body disappear. :rotfl: When I gain weight it's usually in my bust & stomach. I don't really have what is referred to as a spare tire, but more of a pot belly. I've always been curvy, so bigger hips are the norm. I have gained in my thighs though. My biggest challenge is that I'm only 5'1", making styles that would be slimming on a taller person not work for me. This also means I don't carry any extra weight well. :sad2: Of all the places I've gained weight, the one that bothers me most is in my neck & face. The rest I could deal with, but I hate my neck & face looking bigger. :( Any suggestions for slimming the look of those areas? BTW, I won't wear turtle necks. They're too restricting for me, plus I live in FL. I know, I'm hopeless!!! :guilty:
