Finding Nemo ride

I haven't been on the subs since Nemo & friends revived it, but since I liked the original as a kid I'm guessing I'll also enjoy the new version.

Sounds like the consensus is to not set yourself up for disappointment by waiting in a long line for it.

Since FNSV is not rated highly by just about anyone it is hard to see how it could be "overrated".

Really? Just about everyone I talk to raves about it and my sister even said it was her favorite ride at Disney. Based on the lineup each time we are there it obviously holds a pretty high rating with people at the park. We may base our opinions on completely different inputs/factors/influences etc. I, myself, find the ride highly overrated. I respect your opinion though.

Not many people seem to like it, and I think the line is usually longer because it is one of the newest "kid" rides, therefore it attracts a lot of families and because the ride is so long and it takes a long time to unload and load the subs, which causes a backup in the line.

My whole group last time I went didn't like it. I thought it was nice and a good homage to the old sub ride, but not something I have to do every trip. The use of the screens to put Nemo and friends in the water is neat.

Most overrated ride in the park imo. I would rather skip it if the line is 45 minutes or more...

I almost totally agree...you could not pay me to waste another half hour of my life on this ride...;

I am basing my opinion on that I have never heard anyone in person or on online forums who really likes FNSV. Your sister would be the first. There are people who think it is OK. All guide books I have seen say it is not worth a very long wait. I have never seen a book or online source rate FNSV highly.

Yah, but to be overrated it has to be highly rated in the first place. If it is not worth 30 minutes then that just makes it lowly rated doesn't it? :)

If you are there multiple days when there are fireworks (high season) then the best time to go to this ride is about 5 minutes before the fireworks end.... The line drops off dramatically and the night we rode we only waited for about 5 minutes... We would definitely ride again with that sort of wait time, I wouldn't call it lame but I think they could have done a lot better with the ride... A bit like Snow White, just not up to Disney's normal standard...

I must demur. To be overrated it must merely be rated higher than it is worth.

So, in the absence of a " Sentient Beings Should Avoid at all Costs" warning sign, it is overrated.

But I'm glad you think it is cute. We don't have enough cuteness in our lives. :)

Yesterday we took a couple of out-of-towners who'd never been to any Disney park, and I think Finding Nemo was one of their favorite rides, along with Indiana Jones. Our wait for FN was about 30 minutes. Actually I hadn't been on it for some time and I enjoyed it also - there seemed to be more CGI scenes than I remembered, or maybe I just saw new details. Also we had just seen Captain EO. ;)

Just another couple of data points.

I actually really love "Finding Nemo," the movie, and I have a fondness for the old version of the Subs (and that retro, cheesy, sea monster kind of idea) because that old version is what I grew up with. But Nemo + the Subs = underwhelming (for me).

I think I am in agreement with most folks who have already commented here. I think FNSV is worth doing once, at least, just to check it out. I think it's cute. But I expected more. Basically, I would have preferred a whole separate, all-new ride for Nemo and his friends rather than adding them into the Subs, because it's basically just clips of the movie shown on underwater screens. It is sort of an uncomfortable seating situation (but that was always the case on that ride, even before Nemo took over).

And the line is so long - I think that people would be much more forgiving of the long lines if the ride itself were a fast-moving adventure or something that at least moved a little bit. But to wait in a long, slow line to then board an uncomfortable vessel for a long, slow ride seems redundant..it's too much for many folks, I suspect. I can justify waiting in a long line for Toy Story Midway Mania much more than FNSV because TSMM feels like it is going somewhere when you get on it, and something is being accomplished at the end of that long wait!

LOL, technically you are right but practically it does not make sense to me. I can't ever remember hearing someone say an experience widely considered to be average to be overrated. The context I seem to always hear is something highly rated that is undeserving. :cool2:

Thanks so much to everyone who posted. I love all the differing view points, it really goes to show you that not everyone likes the same things! I decided to put this in my "if I have time" list and will get to it if I can, but won't be running to beat the lines! I will be with my 19 month old, I don't need him screaming in a claustrophobic sub!

Nineteen month old? Why didn't you say so? You should definitely consider the Marine Observation Outpost (MOO). Just say you're claustrophobic. Nice air conditioned room, you can see all of the CGi effects, toddler can (IIRC) stay in the stroller, and best of all - the wait is minimal.

Yes, if you must die the slow, tortured death of boredom, do it without carrying a wiggly toddler down a steep, narrow staircase!!!
