Twas a week or so before Christmas, when all through the house
seems Momma is always stirring.
The stockings are hung on the mantle with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be here.
Two children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of candy danced in their heads.
And DH in his sweats, & I in my fuzzy pink jammies
Had just settled our brains for finally some rest.
When into our bedroom there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
DS4 comes in & says.........'I just threw up on my brodder'.
The moon shining inside their bedroom on the newly changed sheets
Gave the image of nothing too bad........
When, what to my wandering eyes should appear,
But a sleeping DS6 with puke on his head.
Little Ole Momma, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment get this fixed!
More rapid than Rockin Roller Coaster, I was moving along
And I whispered, and called him by name!
"Now DH! NOW, DH! NOW!
To the bath with DS6! to the bath with DS4!
Quickly now, while I clean this all!"
So down to the laundry room I flew,
With an arm full of dirty sheets, with the dog following too.
And then, all cleaned & off to bed again, I heard again
The pittering & pattering of each little foot.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Back in my room DS4 came with a whine.
He was dressed all in fuzzy jammies, from his head to his foot,
And thank goodness his clothes were still clean.
A bucket he was bringing
And he looked very pitiful, just dragging his bucket.
His eyes-how they were so sad! his face very droopy!
His cheeks were rosy, his nose sniveling!
His little lips just a quiver,
And the poor boy wants to cuddle with his Mother.
He is chubby and plump, but not very jolly,
And I sighed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of my eye and a nod of my head,
Soon gave me to know this night I might dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to my bed,
But he made it to the bucket,
several times through the night.
He sprang from the bed to his bucket, to his Momma gave a little whimper,
And finally 5:30 came and he was done,
And at last to all a good-night!"
