Can't wait!

Keira Knightley.

OK, my ideas about the Bootstrap thing....

Didn't they need blood to make it work and if Bootstrap was one of them (sombie like) wouldn't it follow that he didn't have any producable blood? That being the case, finding him wouldn't amount to much.

My two observations, three actually, were...Great special effects, that moonlight to regular light stuff was seamless. Also, I am wondering why the "eye makeup" of Capt. Sparrow? Kind of made him look more like a cross dresser than a pirate. Real puurrty though ;-) and finally the incorporation of the "ride scenes" were done really well. Generally a good movie, much better than I expected.

As for Bootstrap Bill, they said "they strapped him to a cannon and sent him to Davy Jones' locker". I believe that means he was dead. The curse took shape as the gold was scattered and would not be lifted until the gold was returned and the blood of "the only living heir" was added. Since William was "the only living heir", it had to be his...

As for the eyes, I believe that was Johnny Depp's interpretation of the character, Jack Sparrow. He also had those gold teeth put on for the part. (that was his idea)

He made for great comic relief, don't you think?

Saw an interview with Mr. Depp and he said it was soot to help him see in the glare... along the line of what some pro-athletes do. Since sunglasses had not been invented in those days, that was the best they could do. Don't know if there is historical prescidence for this or not... seems reasonable.

Elizabeth stabs Barbosa in his cabin before she sees the pirates in the moonlight. There is blood on the knife. Jack cuts his hand and tosses the bloodied coin to Will to drop in the chest. They do bleed.

Jack was fully cursed right after stealing the coin. Bootstrap was not dead at the bottom of the sea, because he took at least one coin and sent it to Will. I still say he escaped.

I have to mention it. I wasnt going too because I wasnt sure it was appropriate but here goes:

My mom and I saw the movie twice and she thinks that jack sparrow is supposed to be a homosexual. I say not. NO way, a gay pirate??? no way. Not in those days.

I'm sure there were any number of "gay" pirates in those days, but Jack Sparrow didn't show any signs of being homosexual. Remember all those women in Tortuga and elsewhere who smacked him? Why do you suppose they did? And he was clearly not immune to the charms of Elizabeth.

The most you can "accuse" him of is having affected mannerisms, perhaps bordering on effeminate. Even if you agree with that, it's completely different from being homosexual. I thought it was a great characterisation on the part of Johnny Depp.

I think it's ( no insults intended) an older people thing. My 74 yr old mother in law thought Jack was a flaming drag queen. I'm totally infatuated with Jack Sparrow. I think older people, who haven't kept an open mind as they age, tend to pigeon hole people more. Please no flames !!! Just an observation based on my own family.

Ok people...

#1. He drank a lot of rum....hence he acted a bit drunk

#2. He spent a lot of time on his ship, gone mad from the heat.

No, not gay...just crazy mad and an alcoholic.

HMMM....sounds like someone in my family!;)

I didnt think he was gay either. Wait til I tell my mother I was right. LOL...:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
I dont get to brag about being right very often so I am going to gloat to her about this one for awhile. LOL. I really loved the way johnny Depp played the character of jack sparrow and I think he did a wonderful job. I cant wait for it to come out on DVD and I am very much looking forward to the sequel.

Jack walked the way he did on land because he was used to the sway of the ship beheath his feet. notice how stable he is on top of the rigging of his sinking skiff. Not because he was drunk, though he did get hammered on the island with Elizabeth.
