You've asked for it...you're getting it...here are finally some pics from my recent landscape project. I took alot more along the way as we did different steps but this is just a few of what I took.....

This is a before pic - I had just pulled up an ugly thorn bush by the air conditioner before I took this - forgot to take it before I pulled it up.

Project #2 started - I pulled up all the grass that was in here the night before and we picked it up just before dad got there

And what would a garden be without some art...I couldn't resist getting this....

This next pic is one I took of my Peony that has done awesome - we got this from my sister- and brother-in-law in Minnesota a couple of years ago and we thought it wasn't going to make it. Lo and behold.....

And here is a pic of the watering can that I found at my mom's when we were cleaning out the garage after she died....and my dd's favorite flowers....

I put it in front of what we think is a dead Azalea bush but we aren't going to dig it up until next year in case it went dormant for a year - unlikely but we just can't dig it up yet.

Hope you enjoyed!!!!! I have one small project left to do and that is around my mailbox. The edging around the peony and the watering can I did last year - started in the front of the house and went all away around the side and to the back. The only thing I didn't do was the west side which is what I just finished. I'm pretty pleased and proud of myself for being able to do this with little cost. I haven't added up the west side yet but I'm guessing I did it for under $2000.

Love your projects. Your dad seems like an excellent landscape artist/architect

Very nice. I know from DH's experience brick work is hard work and time consuming. I enjoyed seeing the work in progress.

That looks so awesome! It looks so clean and neat. I love that look.

Actually...the funny thing about this whole thing is I actually got instructions and read about how to build this up before doing it. I had the general idea that I wanted the curves but then dad was the one to give ideas on how to do the brick. But the funny thing is - my dad did a similar project at his house last year but didn't do it right and has to take it all apart and redo it. When I brought the instructions out he said - in a typical male regimen - "YOU MEAN THERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS?"!!!! I nearly fell on my butt laughing so hard.

So now that he knows how to do this the proper way - he's ready to redo his now!!!!! The easy part of his is he can dump all his supplies right by where he's working at his house - I had to haul all this stuff from the driveway (that is just to the left) back to where we were working.....

Thanks for the compliments.....it's been interesting that we could do this together and not fight!!!!! Good thing my dh wasn't doing it

Chris your yard is beautiful and your Dad sounds like a great guy to be around.

Beautiful...thanks for sharing the pics with us....looks like the area gets plenty of sun too!

Wow Chris, it looks great! :) You guys did a marvelous job.

How convenient for you that your Dad "practiced" on his project first...lol..:) Are instructions for men, somewhat the same as asking for directions? ;) :)

Thank you for sharing your project with us, and I hope you'll add more pics as your plants start to bloom and grow. :)

Beautiful, neat, organized. Love the project.

Chris - That turned out BEAUTIFUL! GREAT job... and it's neat that your family was invovled with you on this project.

I am just so impressed. And I love the Mickey and Minnie statue! Your dad is just terrific to help you out on this. What a guy!

I'm very thankful to have him. And I think I made my brother jealous this past weekend. He and my dad haven't talked in over 11 years now and when my brother came to visit this past Sunday, I couldn't resist but show him the new area. He asked if I did this alone and I said - no, dad helped me and he did most of it. He said a quick but quiet oh. Kinda showed my brother that if he would make up with my dad he would probably have his help on doing some things on his house!!!!

Very nice pictures, Chris! You and your Dad did an excellent job. My Dh would be "watching" too. ;)

I remember back in the days when I still lived at home, my Dad and I would work on landscaping projects around the house. Haven't thought about that in years. We had a lot of fun. :)

I do have to tell you all one funny thing. After we completed the first one - we really booked at the end because it started raining - my dad called me on the Monday after at work and asked how sore I was. He said he almost called his sister (who just lives a few blocks from him) and asked her to come down and help him out of his truck because he had stiffened up so much on his 35 min drive home.

Well on the second project we both kept busy the rest of the day. I had other yard things to do and he some garden planting to get finished when he got home. But I did notice on Tuesday that my shoulder was a bit sore. I just attributed it to doing so much lifting this past weekend. Well just before I went to lunch today guess who calls - my dad. I hadn't talked to him yet this week because he's been working long hours at work. He asked me if I'm by any chance still a bit sore from this past weekend...and I told him about my shoulder. He said he wasn't AS sore as the last time but he was sore. But he said at least he didn't have to call his sister to help him out of his truck!!!!!

Oh yeah TimandDansmom - we have ALWAYS had a vegetable garden and at one point when I was little we had two. One at our house and one at a distant cousins house who lived in town. I remember always helping dad put out the stakes and the string, he'd make the mounds and let me put the seeds in and let me help hoe the garden when it got weedy. And then when it came time to pick stuff I was the one that went with him to do it. My dad spent very little time with us when we were kids so this gardening brought back some great memories of going to the garden with my dad when I was little......and I always had fun doing it. The first time I tried planting something and it died, I was devastated - because it was something I admired my dad for - he could grow ANYTHING - and it killed me that I couldn't do it like my dad......
