Finally must admit "to fat and old for the parks"

I am 47 , 5' 3'' and around 260 lbs, and I was fine on Hulk , on a few of the rides, I did ask for a modified seat, LOL just to be a little more comfortable, but it was fine...............And I rode everything except the dr doom , by my choice, I hate frogger and it looked like a glorified frogger ride, JMO
Universal was fun, but it was not Disney in anyway, not a bad thing , JMO
NO FLAMES PLEASE!

If you like theme parks, then you'll never be too old for them. My then-80 yr. old mom joined us 3 yrs ago at UO and had a blast. She doesn't do coasters, so Hulk and Mummy were out, but she insisted on buying her pic from MIB! She bought it to go with the Tower of Terror pic from a couple years earlier.

You know maybe I am just to old to keep up with the 9 year old. He was so wound up that we would be on one ride and he would be asking when we would get to ride the next one.

I have to agree that I will never be to old to enjoy Universal and Disney just need to slow down a bit and lose more weight.

Oh, heavens!

Don't tell me you are too old at 50-something to keep up with a 9 y/o grandson. I am 41 and my hubby is 50. We just returned from a trip a few weeks ago where we took our 5 y/o and 2 y/o SONS. Not grands... OURS. We had a fabulous time. Granted, we didn't do the parks opening to close, but that is because our little guys aren't ready for that yet... not because we couldn't handle it.

If you feel too old, it's because you FEEL too old.

I understand the physical limitations, but those can always be dealt with in whatever manner you choose.

BTW, hubby & I are still debating adding a third child to our family. We get SO tired of the "too old" talk. It bothers him more than me. I guess because, well, he's older... and more prone to care what other people think.

I am the opposite of your hubby lol. It doesn't bother me at all when people talk about being older. I am actually looking forward to being able to move in to that retirement condo and kicking back.I still have my 15 year old daughter at home which seems to be keeping me plenty busy, physically and mentally.

Don't get me wrong I love kids as much as the next guy but at 53 I kind of like being able to tell the 9 year to go to his dad's hotel room so grandpa can take a nap.

I am 53 years old and 5'10" and 300 pounds. I carry my weight up front and I am built like a power lifter or wrestler, meaning my stomach is big but very solid and starts at my chest . I wear size 48 pants and a size 52-54 shirt and jacket...

I have a couple years on you, am the same height and swiftly approaching the same weight. My waist size is 32 but 38's feel so good that I wear 42's. My jacket size is a 52 slim. My son gets a great deal of pleasure out of pulling the lap bar down hard so it is uncomfortable to ride with him on rides like JPRA or Spidey. When I got on the Mummy Wednesday the attendant asked if my lap bar could go down any farther and I said it couldn't. She said she had to see yellow so I sucked it up and got another click out of it. My kids got a real kick out of it saying that I was 1 click away from not fitting on the Mummy.
Getting old sucks. I had all kinds of pain this last visit. My feet, back, shins and calves all felt like I was drug through a knot hole. I had to take pain pills to get up, sleeping pills to get to sleep, diet pills to get the energy to move, pills to have a movements and others to stop. I felt like Elvis!
All that said, I still have fun and cherish the time with the family. Some of my fondest park memories are simple things like sitting in Central Park talking to my son or shooting people with the $.25 water cannons at the end of Dudley with my daughter. At home we all migrate to our own spaces/rooms and watch separate TVs and rarely find the opportunity to talk to each other or even eat together. On vacation we are forced to stay in the same room and do things together and that is what makes it special for me.

Rides are designed to accommodate the majority of people. Ride designers also know that for rides using certain kinds of lapbars/harnesses, there must be some form of seat that is more accommodating for larger guests (who are in the minority). They also have to follow ADA compliances.

Most rides will offer little-no problem for most people. If you see a Test Seat in front of an attraction, always try it first.

On Hulk and DD, I sit in either row 3 or 6-those have one seat that is modified for people with larger chests, there are 2 belts instead of one. My behind fits just fine in the seats and my tummy is fairly flat, but the chest area is where I just cannot fit into a regular sized seat. DH has a beer belly and has no problem, it's the over the shoulder harness that has to be buckled across the chest that squeezes too much.

Oh, and I'm 5'4 and about 200 pounds-a size 18/20.
