Well buying our resale contract has really been an experience. After we closed we discovered that DVC (or its financing arm) was in the process of foreclosing on the contract we bought. They had to stop the foreclosure proceedings, pay the lawyers, and I don't know what else, but it ended up delaying our getting in the system by quite a bit.
I don't know if this is related to the problems we were having with closing which I wrote about a few weeks back, but I suspect it was. Depending on how bad the financial situation of this contract was it could be that the seller was getting little, if any, cash out of the sale so why rush to return anything? I'm just speculating but she probably was not particularly happy about the situation so maybe that's why she never returned phone calls or e-mails.
The Timeshare Store was unaware of the foreclosure as the seller had not disclosed it to them. They found out the first time they inquired about our problems getting into the system. I have to say they were very helpful. At our request, they connected us directly with the people at DVC who handle these things and they were also very helpful. DVC CM's were great especially considering that we were working with people who were not in normal customer contact jobs.
All's well that ends well. We are in the system and have a membership number, 5 days before our banking deadline. It was a bit stresssful but we now have all our 2006 points banked for next year. I can finally relax. Now onto figuring out how to use those points.
