We FINALLY got a CRT booking after over a hundred days of trying:banana:! It's a feat we couldn't even accomplish from the 180+10 mark last trip, so I'm super-excited!

We had already booked Akershus for a Princess dining experience...should we cancel it, or are both worthwhile experiences??:confused3

My opinion, yes cancel.. Food will be better at CRT.
We went to Akersus twice, both times terrible.
But maybe we just had bad luck there.

We've done Akershus breakfast twice and thought the food and character interaction was way better at Akershus than CRT. But if you have your heart set on CRT, you probably don't need both unless you have a super-obsessed princess fan in your family.

My DD (who was 5 at the time) said her breakfast at Akershus was the "bestest day of my life". :lovestruc

If you are on the DDP, akershus is a great value. You get a photo package just like CRT and its only 1 TS.

We went there on our very first night, of our first trip. Our kids (4) did not know it was a character meal, as we have never done anything like this before. We got sat in our section first, got our little buffet food, which the kids thought was excellent because there was cheese :lmao: and ordered our meals.

Once our meals came out, the princesses started coming out one by one. Our kids were in such complete awe, shock, excited, that their food went untouched. They were just bouncing excited waiting for the princesses to come over. Once they came over - they forgot how to talk

It was so sweet! I'll never forget that meal.

We went to CRT when it was the Fariy Godmother and mice. The kids loved this too, but there was no character interaction. I think now its princesses no matter what time of day it is.

I say keep both. Seeing the look in your kids eyes and the smiles on their faces is priceless.

I think there is nothing like dining in the castle with the princesses coming by your table! :) Did I mention it's IN the CASTLE? I like the CRT food better than Akershus. Our service was terrible at Akershus both times we went. We were the third table seated and we were done eating and ready to go and only one of the princesses had made it to our table so we sat there forever waiting on the others to come by. We could never get them to bring us more hot food or refills though the characters didn't seem to be in as big a hurry as at CRT. Akershus just doesn't have the ambiance of the castle.

I would say: Do both. If you can afford it, why not?
We are planning to do both ourselves. :upsidedow

We did Akershus breakfast last year, and this year we are doing the Akershus breakfast again plus CRT for lunch.

We LOVED Akershus and thought the food was really good. The cold buffet for breakfast was good (cheese, meats, cereal, yogurt, rolls, fruit) and the hot foods were great - that potato casserole is wonderful!

The service was good, and the girls really liked seeing the princesses up close and being able to have pictures with them and ask them questions. I really enjoyed seeing them as well - their dresses up close are very beautiful.

YES to CRT we are going in 2 weeks 1st time for my mom 3rd for us I would pay anything to eat in castle. Other one is great too, hubby and I went there once before son and did not know it was characters for lunch it was awesome too but Castle rocks!:grouphug:

Do them both! We just did a month ago and my son (5) talks a lot about how he ate in 2 castles and met Belle in her yellow dress. The picture they took of us with Belle is my favorite of the 2, too. The food, for dinner, was excellent and we all loved the buffet beforehand.

Thanks for the replies! DD4 just made up my mind for me, I guess...she told me she NEEDED to see the princesses twice! How can you say no to that:rotfl:? I mean, it's serious business to her!!

We did both on back to back nights last week. It was two very different experiences, but we enjoyed both.

CRT was great. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great. My kids loved it. My mom and I enjoyed it as well. It was a nice and quiet and peaceful meal. Totally worth the 2 credits.

Akershus was good as well. My kids loved the cold buffet and had several plates from the buffet, which was good considering they are only 5. We had no problem getting a second set of dessert items brought to our table. Nor was it a problem to have us moved from our original table. They wanted to seat us at the first table when you walk in, right by where pictures are taken with Belle. It would have been too chaotic and busy for my kids to function and eat. Instead we were tucked into a quiet table in the little area between the wall and the buffet area.

There were different princesses at both meals, so that was nice. The princesses were introduced with a story at CRT and just came out at Akershus.

We'll be keeping both, Akershus for Dinner and CRT for Lunch. DD loves the princesses, so she won't be upset that we're seeing them again :rotfl:

Where does it say you get a photo package?

Not sure where it says that you get the photo package, but you do! At both places. Very adorable. Great souvenir. I have both my CRT and Akershus photos framed and am looking at them now :lovestruc

Glad you decided to do both. We've done both our last few trips, and enjoy both. I find them to be different experiences. And do we ever love breakfast at Akershus...

I don't have any advice because we haven't done either yet, but we are going in May and doing dinner at CRT on a Thursday and breakfast at Akershus on the following Sunday.

It's been a few years, but we did both in one visit too. Our family of four went to CRT one day and a few days later, the boys stayed back and my daughter and I went to Akershus-just us girls. It was fun and saved a little $$ . . .

We were faced with the same dilemma. In the end, we decided one princess meal was enough and chose to have dinner at CRT ;). We're only going for 3 nights, though. If we were going for a week or more, we might have considered Akershus for breakfast.

Keep both.
The castle is, well - the Castle.
It's a great experience and you need to do it once for every princess.
It's also the only place to guarantee you see Cinderella.
For breakfast, the food is std but for the other meals it's a bit eclectic.
All in all, the food is average at best and not worth 2 TS Credits.
You are paying for the ambiance and the princesses and the photo package.
If you really want to splurge and have the "whole experience",
I'd recommend a Bibbidi Bobbidid Boutique appt. for 8:00 and then a 8:45/9:00 breakfast at the Castle.

On the other hand, Akershus is my princess' fav meal.
She's been to both and loves this one.
You get greeted by Belle in her golden dress.
The walk-around chars spend much more time with you and the interactions are great.
And, in addition to the std breakfast foods is a pastry, fruit, & fish buffet complete with lox!
A great meal and it puts you in the World Showcase before opening which is also fun.
It's only 1 TS Credit and also includes a photo package so all you lose is Cinderella's Castle in favor of the Norwegian one.

So, two very different experiences and each one is worth a shot.
For recurring visits, we tend to skip the castle and dine at Akershus.

We did Akershus breakfast twice in Decmber and Crt lunch. Much preferred Akershus.

Akershus with the included photopackage is a great deal for 1 TS credit.

I'd do both definitely. Different princesses at both.

Cancel CRT.... Akerhus has better character interaction, much cheaper, better food, and also have the free picture. Only thing that CRT has going for it is location, it is a great atmosphere and nice if you have an early ADR before park opens.
