FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

If you want to meet up sometime at the World, just let me know!

Okey doke, you asked fer it! Looks like our overlapping days are Friday 10/26 and Saturday 10/27 (I'm there 10/21-10/28). Looks also like you're doing basically just Adventurers' Club on Friday and Magic Kingdom and then Epcot in the afternoon and evening. We have a lunch ressie at 50s PT that day and a dinner ressie at Boma. Any desire to go to lunch at 50s PT, or do we need to trek over to MK to see you guys?? :rotfl: We could go to MK first before our lunch reservation if you want! What resort will you be at on 10/27? I don't think you've 100% sorted your lodging yet, but I could be wrong - sorry!

BIG CONGRATS on your job!!! That's GOT to be a huge load off and definitely warrants additional DISNEY SPENDING!!!!

Crystal!

Congrats on the job!!!

Are you taking picture requests this trip?
Can you get some of the CMs at the AC?

I would love to get to see more of them. THere are some that I have never seen

Hello stranger! :goodvibes

I have been a neglectorino and I'm sorry. I offer you congratulations on the new job and warm wishes for a fabulous trip. I wish we were going to overlap on our dates ... how do we keep missing each other? :confused3

I'm looking forward to reading all about your adventures and some day I might even finish writing all about mine. :rotfl2:

Safe travels and have a great time!!

Congrats on the job Crystal!!!! We will almost definitely see you on Halloween night! We are doing the bare minimum stuff on this trip- so no hopper and just one night at DTD but Halloween seems to be a good of a night as any! Now if we can only come up with some costumes....hmmm....

Hey Crystal - congrats on the job.

I am not sure whre you are with where you are staying now (you make my head spin! In a good way!) - but I just read somewhere here on the Dis about this Orbitz special (and I contemplated for about 10 minutes taking a mini trip by myself because it was such a good deal lol) -

Based on your dates, you guys could do 10/28 - 11/2 at Pop for $212.46 (including taxes and fees!). So, split 2 ways - it is about $100 each for 5 nights. That is cheap. I know you don't love the values, but man, for $20 a night who cares. Lol I don't know, just wanted to give you a heads up on a possible savings deal on your room.

Orbitz - put in the dates, choose the $59 rate, and then enter the promo code sunandski150 ($150 off a 5 day stay). There also is a 3 day promo - sunandski75 ($75 off the 3 day stay).

I read it somewhere here on the Dis and just tried it and it worked. So, your mileage may vary, but maybe it can get Kelli to go!

U rock my socks!!!!:cheer2: :thumbsup2

I just mossied on over to Orbitz and got a Moderate for less than the cost of the value we had already booked!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

Crystal,

Congrats on the job. I did reservations for a looooong time for Starwood Hotels and Resorts, eventually rising to a supervisory level before I was ready to move on.

But let me say, boy do I miss the discount! I mean, it might be the Swolphin and not the Poly, but can you beat $69/nt for a Deeeluxe?

(No. :sad2: No you can't. Something I've been mourning for a long time.)

Anywho, glad to hear that that's all set. Now for Kellylouwho. Still sending pixie dust (and a flower :flower3: ) your way that she'll be joining you!

You're only about two weeks out! I have to say that this is usually my favortie time. All that 'Disney stress' and anticipation. It's worse than being a kid at Christmas. But I love it. All of it. (Well, except maybe the long hours I usually need to pull at work to make up for the time off, but that's a small price to pay for a visit to the Mouse House.)

Oh and about the costume...#2...AND the white shirt. Equally. Sorry, that's probably not much help. Must be the Libra in me.

Hey Crystal! I spent the past day and a half catching up on your pre-trip report and I'm loving it! I have three midterms today and instead of studying I spent yesterday and this morning cracking up over your "How To Write a Trip-Report Tutorial," wishing I had a little Captain Jack mascot, and loving costume #2 :thumbsup2 I just want you to know that I single-handedly blame you for any bad grades I may get! :rotfl2:

Congratulations on the new job! I've always wanted to work at a hotel or resort. It sounds like a lot of fun. And I really hope Kelly can go with you to Disney. After all the planning you did it would be great for the trip to work out as planned. Have you heard anything from her yet? Even if you haven't, I'm sure the trip will be amazing regardless of what happens!

After reading all of your pre-trip updates from the past seven months, I can't believe the trip is so close!:woohoo:

Congrats on the new job Crystal! That's awesome!

Oh, and I'm a little late in the voting, but I also like the white shirt and corset combo. And I think you did a great job on it, much, MUCH better than I could have ever done!! :)

That is a great deal! When I looked it up, it said my dates were sold out, though :sad1: Pop has been sold out every time I've called since August, so I'm not surprised. Awesome deal for people that got to use it, though! Wow! Thanks for sharing it! :thumbsup2

Wow, I think that just confused me! :rotfl2: Okay, where the heck WILL I be on 10/27? Ah hah! That's All Star Sp. Unless I can get it changed (I'm not giving up hope!). I don't get in until the evening of the 26th, thus the AC being the only plan that night. Where we end up on the 27th depends on a) if Kelly goes! and b) if she gets a park hopper or not. I'll let you know when I actually know! (hopefully soon!)

Howdy stranger!
My theory is that if we vacation at the same time, it will throw the planets out of whack, and chaos will ensue: llamas will begin speaking French, the sky will turn purple, and children will give up video games to take up playing the bassoon. (Actually, that all sounds sort of nifty!) Thus, the universe does its bit to keep us mere days apart!

You get to go away very soon! I am jealous! Eat many good things!
When I grow up, I want to be a principal or a caterpillar.

Wooohoo! I see that you are not from the Brenda school of "avoid Crystal by days!" :rolleyes1 I am waiting (im)patiently to find out if the Cloob will be opening on time or late on Halloween- I'll share here when I find out! You're welcome to be pirates, too, and join our scurvy crew!

Wow! I need to work for them!! I would pee my pants if I got the Swolphin for $69! (Especially during food & wine! Yummy!) The company that hired me has a resort near Orlando, which I think I get free time at after I work there for so long, but staying off property probably won't happen. But I like having the option!

Would you like me to write a note to your teachers excusing you from midterms? I'm sure I can come up with something! ;)

Hey, I just realized we'll be at BCV at the same time! (OR maybe I already knew that, forgot, and am now re-realizing! Hmmmm... do you have to "alize" something before you can "realize" it? ...and I've now typed the word "realize" so many times it has lost meaning!)

THANK YOU to everyone else who has posted job congrats! :grouphug:

Okay, this happens to me every trip! I've got just over 2 weeks to go, and I now know that I'll spend most of those days at work (and probably a little mentally exhausted from learning new things!), so I want to finish up as many of my pre-trip preparations this week/weekend as possible. And so, of course, I can't remember any of the stuff I'm supposed to do!! My mind is BLANK!

Okay, here's what I DO know:
-Cancel AKL reservation (for some reason, I'm paranoid about canceling this! I think I have a deep dark fear that one of my DVC reservations will be wrong or something. I need to get over it- I'm sure someone else will be thrilled to get this room!)
-Try (again!) to change ASSp to a different resort.
-Try (again!) to move our tea from the 29th to 28th
-Print packing list and list of notes to carry with me

And that's ALL I can think of! I *know* there's more to do! Could you all please act as my brain and tell me what I'm forgetting???

(And, I bought some body glide on ebay! I hope it makes it here in one piece!)

:thumbsup2 on the body glide. Actually my daughter ended up needing it more this trip than me. I never would have thought she would. And i pretty much almost forgot it. It ended up in an outside pouch right before running out the door

It sounds like you're all set. I always go through the same thing before a trip. I always start freaking out two weeks before, thinking that I have a lot more to do than I really do! Usually your brains just so used to being busy that it wants to stay that way :rotfl:

Congrats on the job! At least all that training will keep you busy and makes the days go by faster!

I love that this thread is at 43 pages and the trip hasn't begun yet! :lmao:

We all want to know if Kelly is coming!

I have been doing Halloween there since 2002 and I can't recall that they have ever had a late opening on the day itself.

However, if they're offered enough cash I have no doubt they'll take it.

I want to know, too! :rotfl2: We should start a petition!

I love that no matter how many months I spend planning, when it gets down to the last few days, I think "I haven't got anything done yet!!!"

Yay! That's reassuring. There are quite a few late openings the week before, so maybe they'll get all that out of the way before I get there!

When I worked there (we're talking about 5-6 years ago now), they were in the process of opening regional reservation centers. They have one just outside Orlando (I seem to recall you pondering a short-term move closer to the Mouse).

I know this is off topic and I don't want to hijack the thread, but they were a pretty good company to work for and the travel benefits were outstanding. Let's see...I stayed in midtown Manhattan for $49/nt, at the W in Westwood for $69/nt, countless stays at the Swolphin and other Sheratons in Orland for $29-$69/nt and I sent my parents to the Westin in St. John for $69/nt. Can't beat it. I've often considered going back and just working a couple of nights a month just to get the discount again!

Now...back on topic...

I think I'm as excited as you are for your trip! I wish I was going this year and not next...or this year AND next. LOL

I think one of your kitties would like to let you know you left something furry off of your packing list. Only, her way of telling you involves 'mystery' furs on the suitcase.

Can wait for more! popcorn::

I am a fan of cheap hotel rates! That's one bad thing about the hotel I used to work at- it wasn't a part of a chain, so I could hook my friends up with rooms when they were in town, but it didn't help me any when I traveled!

My cats start trying to pack themselves as soon as the suitcases come out. I think they've somehow heard about the giant mice.

Well, a kind of sad update about the job I interviewed for today-- I'm a little bit bummed.... because I'm going to havbe to get up really early on Monday if I'm going to make it in for training by 8am!!! (Yay!!!)

I told them about my trip, and they said that since I let them know, it will be fine! I'm so happy! I'll be working for a resort company doing reservations, and I'll be making way more than I was making at my old hotel job. So not only am I going to Disney, I'll actually still be able to afford to eat when I get home! ;)

I stopped at Home Depot today for LGMH's, and found some really cute gel window clings in Halloween shapes for just $2, so I got those to decorate my room windows with. I'll post pics later!

And a question for the people who recommended Body Glide- what aisle would it be in? I looked at both Target & Wal-Mart, and neither place had heard of it. (Apparently, they aren't dis-ers!)

I'm glad I don't start work until Monday- it gives me a few ays to do most of the rest of my trip preparation, since I won't have much time soon! I'll try to update later tonight with pics of my new stuff, and info!

Congratulations on the job girl! Have you found the Body Glide yet? I haven't read to the end of this thread yet! If not, I found mine at a running store. I think if you go to the website, you can search for stores in your area that carry it.

Update time!

First up, I tried on the costume stuff today- preview!

I still have some stuff to do, but it's shaping up!

Next, I finally gave in and started packing. Turns out, I've got a lotta stuff!
