FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

It's update time!!

We're down to 18 days! Is that crazy or what? I keep thinking the numbers on my countdown clocks must be wrong, but they all match up, so I guess not!

I've got most of the things I need to pack gathered together, but I haven't started the actual packing yet. I'd rather wait a bit longer, since I'm sure there are clothes and beauty products I'll need in the next 18 days!

I think I've finally completed my shopping! (Not counting costume essentials!)
I picked up these great travel-sized bottles at Wal-Mart last week:

They were only 50 cents each! One has aloe, in case I sunburn, (not sure just how sunny October is!), and the other is body wash. The nifty thing is that the bottles are 3oz size, specially made to be able to be taken in your carryon if you desire! (I don't, but I appreciate the thought!)

I just tried out the izone camera I bought several months ago- it's the little instant polaroid type camera that prints tiny photo stickers. I wasn't quite sure if it would work, since the film is expired, but I'm getting results that are only semi-crappy ;)

In fairness, I think I may have double exposed the first one?
I'm obviously not going to get great results from it, but it should be fun to have. I also found an APS camera at a thrift store for $2 a while back, so I'm bringing that, too. It's the kind I used to have back in the mid 90s that takes pictures in 3 different sizes, including panoramic. I thought it would be fun to take a handful of panoramic shots, just to see how they turn out.

The cats have been helping me pack:

Finally, on a personal note, I found a resort right near my house that is hiring for a reservationist, so I stopped by today to fill out an application and do their typing test. It took a whole hour after I left for them to call me wanting an interview! So that's tomorrow- keep your fingers crossed! It pays $1.50/hr more than my last job, yay! And it looked like a place I'd like working, too! Double yay! (If I don't get it, I have the other one I applied to to fall back on, but this one is much more me! And I really think I have it in the bag.)

Addition to the update!

I forgot to mention! I recently upgraded my wireless service to include unlimited picture messaging, so while I'm gone, I'll try to take a few photos a day with my cell phone, and upload them straight to flickr. So, if you check my flickr page throughout the day, you'll get almost live updates!

Here's the url:

You're welcome to browse through the old photos, too- most are Disney- if you want to walk down memory lane!

Haha! I just got a new phone plan like that too...plus I have unlimited data so I get free internet at the resorts now since I downloaded that fun little Phone as Modem program.

I'm doing my picture updates on Facebook though.

Body Glide! Have you tried Body Glide? It is a little stick, like deodorant, for your skin that stops the rubbing. It is great for feet!

It's almost here......:yay:
Love your packing list.........reminds me I need to update mine.
I am sooooooooo ready for MNSSHP.
So, when is the latest you will know if Kelly is coming? pixiedust: for you & her that she gets to come.

Hey Crystal..since I'm lazy and not feeling like searching back over the 30 some odd pages of your TR...whatcha got goin on, on Halloween night?? Was that your Adventurer's Club night? I can't remember. DH has sprung the idea for an impromptu trip for 3 days starting on the 31st so I'm trying to catch up on all the good DIS happenings going on those few days (we'd be there 31-3rd). It's about 85% a go for the trip but i'm planning anyways-always easier to drop plans than to make 'em!

Okay, I need some costume opinions!

Every time there's an event that I need a costume for, I think "Oh, I'll make one! That will be fun!" And then before I know it, it's the night before the event, and I only have one sleeve done, and it's taken me three hours, and I'm cursing my sewing machine.

I was making some adjustments on my pirate costume tonight, and I think I kind of gave up. The shirt just isn't really working, so I considered going a different way, and just wearing a black tank top and my old tribal bellydance armwarmers, and being a sort of fusion pirate. Basically, it would mean I don't have to do any more work on the dang shirt! (But it is, of course, the sissy way out.)

So, here are some pictures I snapped in my super messy kitchen. (My head is cut off because I was experimenting with piratey makeup, and oh man, you do NOT want to see the aftermath!)

So, first up: black tank top, or finish the stupid classic white shirt I started? (Which, by the way, is made from a sheet, with no pattern. And I think you can kind of see my bra through it. Classy!!!) And then, if I do go the black shirt route, should I continue my plans to put sleeves (for lack of a better word) on the bodice, or take them off? (They look a little funny since they're similar to the tank top sleeves.)

cost3.jpg

I do still need to take the bodice in another inch or so- it's pretty loose in these photos. Plus I like how it looks with some space between the laces- if I lace it up tight, they're too squished!

My other option is, of course, to just blow my budget on a costume made by someone who actually knows what they're doing, and just not eat on vacation.

Votes?

Woohoo!

We'll be at the Adv Club on the 31st (and probably 1st...and 2nd...)

Such is the curse of the crafty woman: "I can make that!" :sad2: In fact, because my sewing machine needs to be repaired, I just recently made a corset out of duct tape, fabric, craft glue, super glue and really cheap metal grommets. Yeah. I'll have to post a picture.

Anyway, my vote goes toward the white shirt (maybe gather the tops of the sleeves for more interest?) with the bodice sans sleeves. I think it looks more like a classic waist cincher that way. Very piratey. pirate:

EDIT

Not to hijack your thread, but here are those corset pictures I was talking about. I'm warning you, it's not gonna be pretty.

corset innards:

I should have straightened the darn corset out before I taking the picture. Drat. Those "stains" on the sides are the result of GLUING the fabric to the duct tape. :lmao: I told you it wasn't going to be pretty:

don't know what I'm doing in this one:

2nd one definately...you can see through the 1st one.

I VOTE FOR #2!

WHAT MESS?:confused3

i agree! I like the white shirt. i'm impressed by your crafty skills. i have never touched a sewing machine in my life, and can't even sew a button without having it pop off three hours later. :sad2:

i'm wearing body glide right now to help break in a new pair of shoes. I love that stuff. I have never, ever gotten anything resembling a blister while wearing it. i can't wear my maryjane crocs without it. good stuff.

PS good luck with the new job interview!

I like the white shirt with the red without the sleeves!! I think it looks great and you are WAY more creative than I could ever hope to be!!:thumbsup2

I vote white shirt.

I agree...white shirt. You made that from a sheet?!? I am very impressed! You definitely do not need to pay someone to make anything for you!

Another happy Flickr user?! I'll take you up on that offer to visit your pics!

I'm all for the white shirt, no "sleeves" on the bodice. I think it looks terrific! :thumbsup2

hi...i've been lurking. :tiptoe:

my vote goes to number 2. i think number one is a little too sexy for disney! just my opinion though. it doesn't scream slut or anything! number 2 is more classic pirate in my opinion. pirate:

great craftswomanship, but the way! :thumbsup2
