FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

The Canadian F&W Fest kiosk will probably have the cheese soup (at least they had it available the past few years). I'm not sure if they have the pretzel bread at the kiosk though. As good as the cheese soup is, the combination of dipping the pretzel bread in the cheese soup puts it on a whole other level

That was my point exactly! You can't have the soup without the pretzel bread!

:thumbsup2
This is where I need your opinions!

Should we do:

1) CBR
2) POR
3) Give PO-FQ a second chance, since I didn't like it much last time
4) Remain at the WL or AKL- around $55 more per night, if my Fuzzy Advance AP Disney Math is right

or

5) Swolphin it up. I read on the resort board sticky that we can get a teacher rate of $169, but I'm not sure if that's pre or post tax. If it doesn't include tax, it would be about $190 with, which is less appealing. (For comparison, my guesses at AP rates are $130 for values, $185 for WL/AKL standard view) This does put us in handy reach of the Food & Wine Fest, but does mean no DME for Kelly's trip back to the airport, if this is when she leaves.

or, now that I think about it

6) Try CBR, ad cough up the extra $15-20/nt for a prefered room.

Opinions? Ideas?

I say stay with WL and AKL. If your already paying 15-20 for prefered you might as well stick with those. But I could just be saying that because I just polished off a bottle of wine and because I have always wanted to stay at either of those. Sorry I am not much help.

I say CBR with preferred room location!! That was the ONLY downside. Make sure that you're getting a room closer to Old Port Royale and not the Customs House though...maybe that was a silly suggestion for a Disney guru! We loved the bigger rooms..and the ceiling fans too!

Why not try to rent points from a fellow disser at a DVC. I did and got it for $110/night. But, that is Sunday-Thurs. The rest of our trip we will be at Pop.

I've been trying constantly since April, but our dates are totally sold out :( I still keep hoping something will open up!

Loving all the plans so far - my 2 cents on the Resort options is to stay away from CBR!! ;) We tried it for the first time in January after spending our first few nights at POP....we actually found ourselves missing POP!

Aside from the rooms being far, far away from the food court (which would be helped with a Preferred location) keep in mind that it takes a minimum of a 10 minute bus ride just to get out of the Resort - there are 7 bus stops to get around this resort & we found this whole process very annoying after a couple days there. We also thought our room was a bit run down - we aren't in a hurry to stay at another moderate after our only moderate stay at CBR.

Maybe you can stay an extra night or two at POP to help the budget allow WL later on?? I just love WL!! :goodvibes

I also agree with a previous poster - we  the F&W Fest last October. There was a lot to see & do & we always love seeing new things at WDW! :thumbsup2

My vote is for POR or POFQ. I have stayed at CB twice and while it is okay, it's nothing special either. It is HUGE and spread out. I stayed at POR in Sept for the first time (have tried many a time) and LOVED it!! I want to try POFQ next. Not sure why you did not like it, but I have heard such rave reviews of it and I saw it when exploring last Sept. It is very compact and the beignets are to die for!

Unfortunately, I've only stayed at Pop, so I can't give you my 2 cents on that. I'd say though, that if money is an issue, a moderate is probably a good alternative to a deluxe. Actually, I wanted to comment on the Sci-Fi. I ate there last time, and the food was pretty good! I had some kind of chicken sandwich. I wouldn't say it's the best food in the park, but the atmosphere makes it worth it. I would also recommend the cheesecake. The. Best. Ever. They actually put caramel corn and some other kind of candy (M&M's I think?) on top. It is so good! Also, I don't know if you've been, but I highly recommend the cheese soup at Le Cellier at Epcot. Due to diet issues, I couldn't eat anything else there, but it was worth visiting for the soup and bread alone!

I vote for POR!!! It's my favorite moderate, too, and it's just so relaxing there. Plus, I stayed at CBR last December and just didn't enjoy it... too big!

CBR?? :scared: Sorry, my vote goes to POR. I've stayed at CBR a few times and I'm just not impressed. Of course, it's been years since I was last there and maybe things have freshened up, but I LOVED POR last Dec.!

Crystal, I say go for the preferred room. You have the time now to put a little extra aside, and then you don't have to deal with any unexpected messiness. Plus, then Kellylou will have an EXTRA special time and BAM! New Disney convert. And in the end, that is what is important, right?

:thumbsup2

Thanks for all of the resort input! It's such a hard decision! (Of course, I'm still watching the rent/trade dvc board like a hawk, just in case!).

Kelly will be in town again tonight, so hopefully we will get a chance to discuss it!

The whole "it takes the bus forever to get out of the resort" thing does become annoying quickly. That's one of the few things I don't like about POR- you go through all the bus stops there, and then often share a bus stop with FQ, too! That's part of the beauty of AKL- no bus sharing! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure why I didn't enjoy FQ much, but I remember wishing that I'd just stayed at ASMu instead. I guess I just didn't "click" with it.

I am quite tempted to just stay at WL all 5 nights. (With the first 2 nights of the trip still at Pop). Packing up to resort hop constantly is easy when it's just me, but with all of our junk on this trip, it may be worth it to pay a bit extra to actually have the chance to settle in there.

I'll try to update tonight if we come to any conclusions!

Have you decided on the resort yet? :):)

No grand decisions have been made yet- I ended up with Allergies of Doom, and didn't get to see Kelly! I'm sure we'll figure it all out soon, though!

Also- Today marks 120 days until WDW!!! In less than 3 weeks, we'll hit the 100 day mark- CRAZY!

My eyeballs are about to fall out of my head. My mom has her 50 year class reunion this weekend, and I agreed to do a slideshow for her, thinking it would be easy peasy. I just spent FOUR hours working on it, and I still have a ton to do! D'oh! On the bright side, the $ they're paying me to be the event photographer will be a nice addition to the Disney fund! :woohoo: Way better than my day job, which pays approximately one Kungaloosh per hour. (Anyone hiring? ;) )

Love it. One kungaloosh. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I vote POR (then again, look at my signature). :) OTOH, being within walking distance of F&W sounds awesome.

117 days... we will survive!

I recently saw a thread on the Disney Tips board about the Crocs Sassari sandals, talking about how comfy they are. However, the only ones I'd seen were the red ones, and there was no way something that looks like that was going on my foot:

Then I saw the all black ones:

Not bad at all! I could probably wear those to PI, right?

And now that I've had some time to think about it, the black and white ones are pretty cute, too!

They're a little more expensive than the other Crocs, though, so I'll probably have to stick with one pair. I just wish I could find them in a STORE somewhere, so I can try them on! (Ditto with the new Capri style! I want 2 pairs, but I want to try them on first! Grr!)

I've also realized that I really, really need a new swimsuit for this trip. I've had the 2 I have since my FIRST Disney trip in 2000! That's just wrong!

Who was it that said that it's not Disney trips that take all your money, but getting ready for them?

Also, after accidentally ordering the wrong kind on Ebay once (OOPS!), I now have our scrapbook/autograph book! It's a moleskine watercolor reporter notebook!

It's 5x8 with 72 nice thick pages, so we can use markers or whatever. I want to decorate it a bit pre-trip, to make it a little more fun and personalized. I'll save that for a day that I'm feeling a) artsy, and b) bored, though!

On a semi-unrelated note, I wish Universal's new Harry Potter area were going to be open for our trip- I'd actually leave Disney for a day!

Haha!! And that's twice as true for you, since you're planning a massive Disneyween extravaganza!

By the way, the white/black crocs you pictured are seriously cute. I was looking at ordering a pair when they first came out with that style, but ended up deciding against it because of the price.

P.S.
This is Jenny (formerly truebelievers) in case you were wondering. 'Cause I'm lame and changed my name. And I rhyme in half the time. :rolleyes2 Oh my gosh, please just ignore me! :lmao:

Check you out, all incognito! (I did the name change thing, too, long long ago!)

I am a little put off by the $40 price on the shoes, too. It took me long enough to come to terms with paying $30 for flip-flops! I think I'll be keeping a watch on e-bay for these- you never know! Otherwise, I'll be breaking out some Amazon gift certificates!

I have those and they're actually really comfy! :)

If its any help- on the capri style I went thru that drama too and the 6 fit me and i'm usually a 6 or a 6 1/2 in reg shoes. They were super comphy too, FYI, i think I have killed them already tho, wearing them so often LOL!

Those black and white Crocs are pretty cute! I may have to debate trying some out!!!

I must now interrogate you on the Capris!

From the pictures, it looks like the little doo-dad that goes in between your toes is some sort of fabric instead of the crocs material. Is it still comfy? Will it make my toes fall off? Inquirng minds want to know!

The material is a soft comphy fabricy material. I think its more comfortable than reg plastic ones on most flip flops. I am a flip flop girl tho, my toes are used to it. I think even if you aren't used to the thing between the toes the capris are going to be easier to deal with. the straps are soft almost suede like material- very soft! They were the best flip flops i ever bought and I think I am going to go for another color soon too...they have already been to Vegas and Disneyland and a few long days in NYC with me and they rule!!!

Thanks! They're so freaking cute, I must have 2 pairs, but for some reason I was afraid the fabric would be irritating.

I wear flip-flops until there's snow on the ground, so my feet are pretty used to it! ;)
