I finally pulled the trigger and booked 3-day for next month. I was worried about such a short cruise but that's silly ;)

It will be my mom's first Disney cruise and my first cruise on the Dream.

What's not to be missed on the Dream? Anything I may have forgotten for a 1st timer?

I am glad we made a point to eat in all the dining rooms. That was a big part of the experience.

I'm also happy we made a point to walk around the whole ship just to appreciate all of the decor and theming. I got a particular kick out of the travel posters behind the Port Adventures desk.

Ditto eating in the dining rooms. You get one night on each. We just did our first ever cruise, 3 nights on the Dream. I was SO glad we didn't book any excursions and could just soak in all the ship had to offer at our pace. Have fun!

A few things you will find only on Disney, and they really make your trip so exciting:

- The sail away party. Get involved, feel the music, relish your upcoming cruise
- The dining room rotation keeping your waiters. The venues are elegant, themed, first class
- Get to know your servers, show them respect, and you get it back in spades. Treat them with respect and you will be AMAZED at how they treat you in return.
- Midship detective agency for kids and kids at heart alike
- Make at least one visit to the Meridian bar and sit outside
- Character meets.

The adult areas are great. There is a late night adult buffet in nightclub area, the adult pool deck is also great. Remain on the Starboard side on Pirate night if you just want to see the fireworks but not the show. Also, Vanellope's is a really nice addition. My wife and I split the race car sundae.

Depending what ship you were on before, if it was not the Fantasy, be sure to spend some time in Satellite Falls....SO relaxing!

Love the Midship Detective Agency, and I have not sailed on the Dream or Fantasy with kids. The Dream now includes the Muppets.

Midship detective agency.
All of the dining rooms.
Your dining team will strongly advise you to eat breakfast in the MDR the last morning. You can eat at Cabana's. This is our preference.
Order Cookies and milk from room service and don't forget to tip them.
Don't forget to just relax and take it easy.

Dining at Remy and Palo. Outside of Royal Palace I wan't impressed with the food in the dining rooms. If I had to go to a 3 night cruise on the Dream, this is what I would do.

Thanks for this suggestion! I just looked it up and it does look relaxing!

I've sailed on the Fantasy and still didn't know this existed!

I had no idea there was a late night buffet in the adult area. Is this every night?

We will definitely remember to stay to the starboard side-we're not show people but I love fireworks.

I don't tend to eat a lot of sweets, but I love love love looking at them. I'm probably more excited than most kids for Vanellope's. She's also one my favorite characters of all time (we have a lot in common lol).

Book a Palo Dinner - Amazing

I've heard this. I've done Remy and was really disappointed.

I wish I knew our dining rotation as I'd try to get a reservation for whatever night we're in animator's. I don't think my mom will love the louder, brighter experience in there.

Go ahead and make the reservation, then contact DCL and request a rotation that "doesn't put you in Animator's on XX night". They'll take care of it. If it doesn't work (slight probability) you can go to where Palo dining changes are being handled as soon as you board and request a change to another night.

Ugh, this is why I was worried about a 3-day lol. I wish we had a sea day or just more time!

Oh well, it's still better than sitting at home for my random Monday office closure :)

A 3 day is better than a 0 day!

The best advice is just relax and enjoy what you can do rather than worry about doing everything

Don't miss the main dining -- especially Animator's Palate. Also, play a round of miniature golf up on the sports deck -- we had a lot of fun playing that twice. It's really fun at night, too

I'm following along as I'm in the same boat - or on the same ship... I've done two 7 night cruises on the Fantasy and have a 3 night Dream coming up in October. I'm worried it will be over before it starts. There are two shows they don't have on the Fantasy (Golden Mickeys and Villians Tonight). I'm looking forward to the Villians one, but I haven't heard anything (one way or the other) about the Golden Mickeys. I'm excited to see the adults only areas that are different. I'll also be doing early dining for the first time, as I'm traveling with my sister and their 3 yo. Wondering how that will mix up the day for us. As you said - a quick 3 night cruise with Disney is better than 3 days at home...
