Finally able to log on - whew

Ok, now it's my turn to get frustrated. I haven't been able to log into VMK tonight, or even last night when I disconnected near closing time.

I am able to get the sign on window, and I'm able to see the VMK logo and loading bar. Once the bar loads about 1/6 of the way blue, it stops, and my mouse pointer starts to "think" about what to do.

I deleted my temp files and cookies. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Flash and Shockwave? I'm at wit's end at this point.

make sure you have the latest version of each. I'd go to their website and download. Have you tried using firefox?

That's happened to me before. The only thing that worked was to leave the "stuck" login open and go do something else. It took about an hour but it finally finished logging in, and after that the problem seemed to be fixed.

In the past, I've been unable to use VMK on Explorer, and simply changing to Firefox solved the problem.

I know the same type of thing was mentioned but login has been really slow for me for the past few days as well. Eventually I get tired of refreshing the page and just let it take how ever long it needs to load and eventually it does. Hope everything works out and you can get back on soon!

This was happening to me alot yesterday. What I found was if I opened Dis boards and then closed down VMK and opened it againit would work. I had to do it a few times last night. Do not know why opening another browser worked but it did.

Same exact thing with me, Briar! I was beginning to think it was just me! Ever since they made the enhancements, I am struggling to log in. My loading bar keeps freezing about 10% of the way. What I find I need to do is close the window and do it again (and again and again and again).

It can take me up 20 times to successfully log in. Grrrr...

And I've tried leaving the "frozen loading bar" up while I went off and did something. But no matter how long it's left there, it won't budge. Easier for me to just sit there and keep logging in until I finally hit a bar that moves.

I have been uninstalling/reinstalling shockwave to see if this would help with fireworks since it crashes after the first round for me (Both Firefox and Internet Explorer). I have deleted all temp, cache, cookies and any other internet temp files you can possibly think of but still seem to crash. Right now, I am not sure if this has been caused by all the updates or just the halloween theme additions. If I recall, I think this has happened the past two years once the halloween theme has been implemented, but I would have to do some research to see.

Well, whatever it is, I'm going to play around with my memory file tonight.

The interesting thing was a long time ago, when IE didn't work, I had downloaded and used Firefox. Then Firefox wouldn't work and IE suddenly worked for me again. Whenever I tried to update FF with the add-ons, it wouldn't recognize the installation. Only IE would. So I don't bother trying Firefox anymore.

I had used the F5 refresh successfully a couple of days ago to load VMK, but yesterday it had no effect. I will try to uninstall and reinstall Flash and Shockwave tonight, too.

I'm having the same problem. I can't get on for days at a time.

The other problem I have is crashing, especially during games. I've tried three nights straight to enter a Host room. Waited hours to crash when I'm less than 100 in line.

Can't get on now. That's why I'm reading the board. I've done all the usual tricks...nothing is working.

Wow, it's been nice around vmk without Briar on. I hope she doesn't figure out how to get back in! Oh wait a minute, did I do that thing again where I type what I'm thinking and don't want anyone to know?

Just kidding, Briar! Ya know I heart that virtual vmk version of ya! Miss sharing the laughs and catching those ghosts! Hope you get back on soon!

For you conspiracy theorists and complainers out there, here's an idea: maybe after the flood of vmk people and clones/mules/afk zombies last month, they made it more difficult to log in this month so that the system doesn't crash with the new changes. Or maybe this is finally vmk's way to take over the world - you see, they make it more difficult for some people to log in, those people start getting frustrated, and then they are unhappy, and then they go on a rampage after hitting refresh one too many times. After the rampage, few people are left, and then Disney sends its hidden stormtroopers into the world to take over? Hey, it could happen, right? lol

I managed to get back into VMK, but I had a lot of frustration trying to
uninstall and reinstall Flash and Shockwave. I hate being my own IT pro.

But I made it back.
