Sunday 23 October is the last day you can join in on the Christmas tree exchange. Next week, I'll be confirming with tree donors and gathering some information:

For donors, name and address (this will be on the box too, but just in case so I can provide it to those shipping back)

For tree families - the full name that the reservation is under.

WDWSTAR and I will then send out information confirming dates and procedures.

First of all, this is the last day to request a tree. Keep in mind this is all about sharing, so I'm trying to give the most fasmilies the most time with a tree. That means you may not get it on the day you arrive and you may have to pass it on before you leave, but remember that that is only because you are helping maximize the joy!

A final list will be created this week.

NOW THE BAD NEWS. We lost a tree due to a flodded basement! One of the VWL trees is no more. If you are an VWL tree family, let me know what you want to do. Here are some options:

1) cram the families together, meaning families will loose some tree time so that no one looses it all

2) donate a tree! This is the best option - if someone steps up, it's like it never happened!

3) I could start a paypal collection and use the money to buy a new tree to donate. I am donating one and cannot really afford two, but I'd be happy to buy and send down a "DIS owned" tree.

Sorry to hear about the tree...

I'm not part of your groups, but have been following along. While looking for an alternative tree option for my family (the metal base on my tree may be an issue...), I found that Walmart online now has 2 1/2 ' tall pre-lit fiber-optic trees for $13 w/free ship to store. These could be nice as the silver base raises the tree for about 7" of that height above the table. This would give an area around the base to place items and keep as workspace. We all know how little space there is in those studios.

A possible negative to this: I found fiber-optic trees to have very weak branches. A bow may be about the only weight it can support.

I'm ordering one anyway to test - can always return it to the store.
