When I was at Universal for the 1st time (11/3-11/11) they were making some type of Movie there. I saw the Blue man Group 1 or 2 days then another day the Jurassic Ride was closed because of "Filming". The people filming seemed very serious. They had all types of people working "on-set" and equipment set up everywhere (you had to see it for yourself). They had a big crain with a camera filming the Universal Globe. They did so many different things. I was so into watching to see if someone famous come out or if something awesome to happen that I forgot to take any pictures
. Right after they finished filming in one spot they quickly packed everything up and literally started running to the next spot to start filming something else. Then when I was leaving Toon Lagoon going into Marvel Comics I saw something about a TV Show they are making in a Building next to the Felix The Cat resturant and across from the Carnival games. It's called iVillageLive. Its a show for women I think.( http://ivillagelive.ivillage.com/?vty=www.ivillagelive.com ). Does anyone know about these two Universal Productions? I thought after Nickelodeon Studios Universal was done. Universal is new to me so they might do Production like this everyday but I thought it was just a Theme park like WDW I didn't know Universal did regular Productions there everyday except when they did Nickelodeon.
Does anyone know about this? Did anyone see this while they were there?
In My Opinion: If they are going to do a Production it should be something like Nickelodeon Studios. It should be something all ages can enjoy not a talk show or Blue Man Group because your kids don't want to see that, I know I don't lol! Since Universal isn't doing Nickelodeon no more because of a end of contract that they didn't re-new I think. They should find some other major Cartoon or Kid's Network to replace it. They could always do a "Cartoon Network Studios" lol! That would be very cool. It would draw a crowd and kids are the ones who go to the parks and want to get on rides and see shows that are eye catching and appeal to them. Universal should make a Major Production for kids again since adults have CityWalk to go to when ever they please. Universal could make the productions aimed towards the adults in CityWalk some how or somewhere else possibly, who knows. I don't think me or my family want to go see 3 guys covered in blue paint bang on some drums and call it a music show and I am pretty sure your kids and maybe even you don't either lol. We would rather do something different and fun that we would enjoy on our days at Universal. It also doesn't hurt to make an old building into a ride too
. Thats just my 2 Cents on something I think Universal would be better off doing in my eyes. I hope it's the same for you too.
I know Universal is just using what they already have I just feel disappointed because of what they are going to turn those 2 old buildings into. I feel like they could have came up with something better thats all. I am not really looking foward to what they are going to do because a Talk Show and whatever the Blue Man Group is doesn't seem appealing or doesn't make me feel like I would want to see it. Universal would have been better off coming up with something for all ages or maybe even a ride or something to replace a unused area.
Well there may be some rides and attractions you and others may not go to but for some people including me and my family we get on everything. Nick Studios may have been for little kids but it wouldn't stop me and my family including people in my family way older than me to go to the attraction. You see WDW and the Ads saying to "Come and do a magical gathering and be a kid again" or "let the kid out in you and play" or something of that nature. Well, I don't see the difference here. My opinion may not have too much logic or no logic at all but hey if it makes sense to me thats all that matters..... Like I said it's Just My Opinion!

kenban said:There are already several discussions about this. The Blue Man Group is taking over the old Nick building and is going to have a show there. It does not open til June but tickets are already on sale. The iVillage show will in IoA and is going to be shown on Bravo and some NBC stations at noon on weekdays. Neither building has been used in a while and its just Universal using what it already has.

Nickelodeon Studios was never an attraction "for all ages," just as the TV channel isn't (their current programming is especially hard for me, a young adult who grew up watching said network, to stomach.) In fact, kids were the only ones who could even participate in their game shows. There's still plenty for kids to do in the parks, and IMO, there's no sense in getting hung up on the loss of Nickelodeon or denouncing a show like BMG just because it doesn't appeal to you personally. That's coming from someone who had a sentimental connection with Nickelodeon and was rather depressed when the slime geyser got paved over.
As for BMG, there are people it appeals to, and they will come see it. It's a very big acquisition for Universal. The other show I don't know anything about, but that theater has gone largely unused for years and if they can film any kind of production for a major network like NBC there, why not? They weren't going to use that space for a new ride anyhow, I can tell you that much.
Just as adults "go to the parks and want to get on rides and see shows that are eye catching and appeal to them." What's the difference?
Besides... "Cartoon Network Studios?" You must realize what's oh so very wrong with that picture. What exactly does Cartoon Network film? Live-action cartoons?Nickelodeon Studios closed because it wasn't being used, plain and simple. The network's focus shifted from live-action game shows and sitcoms to cartoons, and there was no longer a need for that production location. Now you want a network that produces nothing but cartoons to take it's place? Again, I'm not seeing the logic.
How can you comment on the Blue Man Group when you apparently don't even know what they do? That would be like me saying "I hate theme parks... whatever those are." Not logical.
