I'm doing a Visa application for India and have no idea what my education level is on this list:

Below Matriculation
Higher Secondary
Graduate
Illiterate
Matriculation
NA Being Minor
Others
Post Graduate
Professional

I know I'm not "Illiterate" or "NA Being Minor" for sure. I have a bachelor's degree -- is that "Matriculation?"

TIA

I believe 'matriculation' would mean you're a high school graduate.

I'd go with 'graduate.'

Here's how NOT fully awake I am this morning. I thought you were applying for a visa credit card while in India...lol. My thought was that you are there for work and do not want international charges on your current cards. Then, I was thinking it was a scam application because it was asking if you were illiterate. These are the thoughts that raced through my mind in a matter of a few seconds.

Oh boy, I need to go back to bed.

Don't worry my mind was going that same direction. :)

Hi Tar Heel,

Metriculation is the equivalent of UK GCSE's - exams taken at 16 yrs of age.

As you have a bachelors degree, you would put Graduate for the visa.

(Interested to know more about your trip!)

:)

Thanks so much -- I knew you folks would know!

Shirley -- My husband's grandparents lived in India for 40 years as missionaries. His mother and her siblings grew up there, and reverence for all things India was an important part of my DH's upbringing. We will visit the mission area, the school DH's grandfather founded, etc., and also will go to big tourist spots. A travel agent specializing in Asia designed the trip and DH's aunt will lead it. We start in Mumbai, then go to Kodaikanal (where my MIL went to boarding school), Muddurai, Chennai, Vacadu, Hyderabad, Deli, Agra and Jaipur. We leave from Delhi.

I'm excited (and a bit nervous, especially the flight) about the trip. One of our young adult sons will be with us. The oldest doesn't have a lot of interest in going and the youngest (who wants very much to go) just started college -- the two of them are going to Disney World for Thanksgiving.

So did I!!! And all I could think was "gosh most credit card companies don't ask if you're literate, they just want to make sure you have enough $$ to pay the bills!!!"

I got a business Visa for India 3 years ago, I don't remember that question but maybe a business app is different. I had 3 flights - Pittsburgh-Washington Dulles-Frankfurt-Pune, took 24 hours total. I wish I could have seen more after going all that way, we only had 1 full weekend.

I hope you have a wonderful time -out of the places you are visiting, I am very familiar with Delhi, have visited Agra several times & stayed in Jaipur in the fabulous Rambagh Palace.

Hope you are planning on visiting the Amber Fort in Jaipur.

Let me know if you need any info :)
