My opinion is that it is much better though not as good as the original version. I just wish they would have added all AA's at the 2n'd to the last scene. It would have made a HUGE difference if all the Figments were moving!
When was it last updated? I have seen two versions - the original (in the late 80s, early 90s?) and I saw it again in one of the last two trips, so either summer 2002 or April 2003. Please tell me they changed it since! It was pretty lame, compared to the original.
The ride was change last year to the third version that's now running which features Figment as the Host of your ride into imagination. But there no DreamFinder (or DeanFinder) in this version.
Not to beat a dead horse here, but was the middle version the one with the guy from Monty Python? I believe the version I saw most recently had one of those guys in it (I think his name is Eric Idle).

That's the one I saw in the Middle of 2000. When I went last year, I barely spent any time in Epcot - I was too tired, and Epcot just never did anything for me.
I really like Eric Idle - I think he was playing the same character he played in Honey I Shrunk the Audience- the head of the "Imagination Center" or something.

The newest vesrion has Eric Idle in it as well but theyrewrote and rerecorded the soudtrack. It now includes Figment in almost every scene. The took away some of the scenes completely and revamped others. It is a decent compromise of items though not spectacular.
What is the ride like now? Like how long is it, and what goes on. I hear figment is back, but I also heard he has a different voice, and personailty. Is this true?
The ride is short, just a few minutes long. Figment is all over it, but to me the "joy" of ths original is not there. It is a cute ride but not as sweet as the original. Figment does have a new voice. The wonderful actor who voiced the original Figment has passed away. His name was Billy Bartleby (or something close to that) and he voiced many characters throughout his career. He also acted in many films as an elf/munchkin character as he was a small man. I am sure you would recognize him if you saw him. I do recall thinking the "new" figment voice was pretty close, sort of like with Kermit the Frog. You can tell Kermit is no longer Jim Henson's voice, but it's close!
The new JIYI ride is wonderful. There are subtle reminders of the old ride if you look for them. The new ride is hosted by Professor Nigel Channing who takes you through the journey (with help from Figgie, of course!) We missed Figment when he was gone and were so excited when he came back in 2002! My favorite part of the ride is Figment's upside down house.
