Ok...something I have to ask. The Figment ride at Epcot was one of those rides that was on my wish list before going. We did get there, and even twice as my kids wanted to go again...so it did appeal to them. But the funniest thing was watching DH's face....he thought it was the corniest thing ever. And yeah, i have to agree...pretty cheezy.

So is it just us? Again, our kids liked it so that is what counts, but it really was quite ridiculous.

I have no intentions of ever riding it again for the reasons you listed. Just plain stupid.

I don't care for it. Especially the skunk smell. However DH loves it. Go figure!

My dh can't stand it but my 18 year old dd loves it! I will ride any corny ride, because I'm in Disney and corny doesn't bother me that much.

I think my dh views almost every ride at WDW as corny and I agree, but he views corny as bad and that is what I like about them. He is a thrill ride coaster person and I like the story that the rides tell.

We went on it a couple times this summer. As DLR vets it was our first time at WDW so all rides were new to us. It was corny but that's sort of why I liked it. Not my favorite, but just fun to see a few times. I did say that if they replaced the skunk smell with, say a cookie smell, people would be wanting to ride it again. Or if they made the smells random each time you went through that would be fun. A good smell would trigger good memories associated with the ride for people. Disney obviously knows this, I don't know why they don't change just that small thing.

To me it's about equally cheesy to all the slow omni-mover type rides all over Disney and I like them all! Especially with a dearth of rides, and family/kid rides especially, at Epcot, this one becomes a must-do.

If Future World is a plate of poorly reheated leftovers (and it is), then Journey Into Imagination is the unbuttered, canned mushrooms that proves Mom just isn't trying anymore.

I never went on the original ride but knew of it's existence and etc. I also didn't realize it had been redone (and have always been confused by the continued presence of Figment in the parks) until I went a few days ago, and was taking a friend around who had never been to Disney World so he wanted to check everything out. The ride made me feel sort of sad? It just made very little sense and was really ugly. It also had that disappointing 'temporary' feel to it that a lot of Epcot rides have. (I think it was more upsetting that I knew it was permanent...) Regardless, I'm glad we found it because we were extremely excited to see Weebo in the queue, LOL.

I love Figment! Yes the original was better. But I still love it! He's so cute.

It's always the first ride my son wants to ride at Epcot. And usually we're the first ones on it for the day - even if we're not there right at rope drop, lol!!

it used to be a much better ride. And even after they changed it, it used to have a much better interactive area at the exit. I still do it every now and then for DD - but I wouldn't cry if I never did it again.

I can't remember the last time I rode this ride but it must have been around 2007 and I remember always liking it. It's only when I started reading DIS at the beginning of this year that I heard that so many people dislike it!

I've skipped it on my last couple of trips due to time constraints but I think I'll give it a shot on my next trip in Feb and see if I'm misremembering. :)

IMO it's one of the worst rides on property. But I still go because it reminds me of the original, which was gutted in 1999 and then redone slightly better in 2002. The original was a masterpiece of Imagineering, and a defining experience of EPCOT Center.

Great video ridethrough of the original with lots of attraction history

Video of the original Imageworks lab/playground, which still sits unused and gathering dust on the second floor of the pavilion.

Yep, and I look at the little Figments and sigh : (

i've loved figment since i was in the womb.
the ride was better with dreamfinder but i still like the current version.
sure its corny but its part of me.
i even have a figment tattoo.

Ha ha very true. A cookie smell would make it more enjoyable. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the replies. I'm at work now when at home gonna check out the history and you tube of the original. Didn't realize that it has evolved over the years.

The original was far superior. Why they took that out I still don't understand.

However if Figment ever leaves that park again, I will be seriously unhappy. I wanted to say the ride badly needs a reboot but these days that would mean Frozen. :scared1: (I'm kidding well sorta.)

Bring back Dreamfinder and make ride into a new version paying tribute to the original.
Also bring back a more interactive play area. And the rainbow corridor.:thumbsup2
