fifth person in refillable pool mug-hopping

This thread has gotten so funny, that it brought to mind another one from last year. I've looked it up and here's the 1st post:

As some of you know, we have a BIG family and it's getting REALLY expensive to travel with our 6 kids so I have been searching the board for tips to put together a major budget trip for our family of 8. First, do you think anyone would notice if all of us would squeeze into one room at Pop Century? (My kids don't mind sleeping on the floor!) Secondly, I thought I could bring our super-sized George Foreman and grill each night in the room. (Mmmm...I can taste those garlic grilled tuna fillets now...) Thirdly, do you think that my 6 year old might pass for under three at the gate (he's only in the 50% in height for his age). I know the CM at the turnstile won't really believe he's under three...but surely they won't make a scene when they see how many other kids we have to pay for! I mean, c'mon....Disney doesn't need the money! Are there some good free breakfast buffets at off-property hotels we could sort of "slip into" unnoticed? I think someplace that's generally crowded so we wouldn't really be noticed would be best. We prefer hot breakfasts. (We'll have a car so driving off-property is not an issue. Closer is better, though;) ) It's really a hassle to leave the parks during the day just to cook in our room, so I really need some ideas for how to do lunch inexpensively. I was thinking that if I bought 2 double burgers at Pecos we could make about 6 big salads to go with them at the toppings bar and we could feed the family of 8 for, oh, about 12 bucks. Not too bad, eh? I know all you BUDGET minded people think just like me (always looking for a way to cut corners) so I'm sure you will be able to help me make this trip happen. I can't wait to see your ideas! Happy replies only, please!!!!:hyper:

Trixiezzz and Belle5

I am still :rotfl2: after reading Belle5's thread. Too, too funny. :rotfl2:

I think it is now time to start a thread about expectation from one's resort stay. You know along the lines, provide private bus transportation only for my family, and most definitely cut down all trees and remove anything that obstructs my view of the Castle. :rotfl:

Perhaps you've missed a certain buccaneer's infamous resort reviews then...

:cool1: How about the people who book a camp site at Fort Wilderness for the extra magic hours but sleep at the Grovenor!

People do that? I never would have thought about it until I read it here. I guess I am to good natured to think of cheating like this! :rotfl2:

Now Peter Pirate, don't be such a tease. Post the link so I can happily read and get a good laugh! :cool1:

Gosh, I didn't think of it as cheating..I thought it was expensive! Those campsites are not cheap...almost as much as a value.

As for nursing in public, what did women do before there were bottles? When your child is hungry, your child is hungry. What is woman to do stand in a filthy bathroom. This is comming from a woma who bottle fed her child.

Oh, I can't post a link (not computer saavy enough) and there have really been quite a few and I don't think this new 'search' goes back far enough or something...But they were...Unusual. Trust me.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the fact that there are actually people breastfeeding in public at WDW? :rolleyes1

Oh, I can't help it! Geez what are the odds at having to witness public nursing...since only about 14 people in the entire US bother to do it all! :teeth: Here's a tip that will end the problem: Turn your head! :sad2:

JABEAR: Maybe you need to add, "unless you are nursing in public" to your tag line!

THANK YOU! I was just thinking the same thing, when I read a woman's post about how many people told her to go to the bathroom to breastfeed......! What is she supposed to do, sit on a toilet and feed the baby?! Or stand up while holding a 15-20lb baby in her arms at chest level. Yeah, let's see a man try that one with a squirming 20lb weight!

I know it's a touchy topic, but to me it's not that complicated. I don't meant you have to sit in the middle of WDW and have it all hang out. But come on. When I nursed, I always covered up with a small blanket, which is nice for the baby too. The Baby Care stations are nice, but not always convenient... and babies DO NOT wait! But I don't think it's wrong at all to breastfeed when you need to wherever that may be. I don't know why people are so disgusted when they see women nursing... they're just breasts! That's what they were MADE for! (sorry to be a bit 'graphic')

Donning my flame proof suit *zzzzzip!*

In most states (including FL) there are LAWS that allow a woman the right to nurse ANYWHERE her and the child want to.

I think it is disgusting that people actually give nursing mothers a hard time!

Breasts are made to nurse infants, not for you to gawk at.

If a child is hungry, the child needs to eat.

Breastfeeding is not only protected by law in most states, it is a natural & beautiful thing.

How can people really be upset by a CHILD EATING?!?!?

If you are so uncomfortable with it, DONT watch. Why are you looking anyway?!?!

Why should nursing mothers be shoved off into a bathroom to feed her child? Breastfeeding should not only be done in public, it should be encouraged!

Breastmilk is best for babies. And it is because of certian comments that more woman don't do it, even though it is better for their kids & themselves!

Why don't YOU go eat in the bathroom. See if you like it. Then go tell a nursing mother that is where she should feed her baby.

To people giving nursing mothers a hard time...Boooo, boooo, boooo!!!

To people making fun of people giving nursing mothers a hard time...Yay...Yah...Yah!!!

Get off the serious nursing bit folks, the intention here is humor. We all need to laugh, even at serious subjects.

Peter, I gotta say, it's great that you have a sense of humor, but at some point isn't it appropriate to stop if you are offending people? I mean, it is one thing to laugh at serious subjects. But say you are laughing at people with a certain disability or illness...making light of it if you will. What if someone with that situation says, "You are offending me..." Isn't it a sign of maturity to know when to STOP? Sure, you find it funny. Most nursing moms don't. It is a VERY difficult subject for many.

Maybe it isn't a matter of people needing a sense of humor but rather you learning to keep yours in check. Would it kill you to back off of the nursing moms a bit? It's not funny, it's not appropriate. Frankly, it is just as offensive as mocking people for other civil rights issues. And yes, nursing in public is a civil rights issue. In most states, you can be fined/arrested for asking a nursing mother to stop or to nurse elsewhere.

I can see how the rest of this stuff can be funny, but I think that enough nursing moms have asked that nursing in public be dropped from the laugh fest.

Sorry if I'm lacking a sense of humor. It's just too early in the morning.

And let me add that I accepted the explanation that this is a thread about hot button topics on the DIS. But clearly it is much more about pet peeves at WDW. (Unless someone can convince me that wearing thongs at the swimming pools is a hot-button topic on the DIS boards...or people not wearing deodorant...or people holding places in line for other people. Or people taking their cranky kids to California Grill at night...) THis is a thread about pet peeves. Plain and simple. Let's not try fool ourselves into thinking that nursing in public is okay to laugh at here because it is a thread about hot-button topics. It's not.

JMO, but I think the whole pet peeve about nursing moms, was the moms who whip there breasts out openly for all to see while standing in line for Buzz Lightyear. As a breastfeeding mother, I think breastfeeding is a very intimate moment between a mother and their baby, a bonding experiance. I don't think the OP, or whoever mentioned breastfeeding in public was saying not to do it at all.
I really don't understand why a thread...meant to make fun of everything that peole do that is debatable at Disney has turned in to a debate???????
OH well, Just my 2 cents.

haha! Clearly this has become a "hot button" topic on the Dis...as I have seen it become before while being debated in various other threads in the less than a year I've been a member.

When I mentioned it in this thread, it was my intent to mention it as a "hot button" topic. Not something I personaly agree or disagree with. But to bring it up as just another one of those ridiculous things that people debate their lives away on the Dis...just like refillable mugs, taking the kids out of school for a vacation, etc.

As you can see, public breast feeding on the Dis does become a "hot button" topic...once again.

What the heck does it matter to me on my vacation if you feed your child or fill your mug up. You will do what you want, as will I...and then whether you choose to dwell on your pet peeves here on the message boards after the fact is your choice as well.

I find it amusing that so much time is spent arguing about these things that take place in WDW and there is not one bit of change any of us will make to them. People will refill their old mugs, people will pool hop, people will wear bikini tops to the parks, people will breast feed their children, people will hold places in line and people will chase CM's around in the 360 theatres while peeing...

Whether or not you choose to feed into the Dis debates though is your choice...and they're priceless! that's why I keep comin' back! :cool1:

I think what people don't understand is how not funny it is to some. Really, I think there are those who would say they find Gay Days annoying. (NOT me personally!) But if it were mentioned on this thread, it would be found offensive (rightly so) to make light of it. Yet NIP is open target. For some of us, it is just as offensive. I think that is what is at issue for many. For those of us on this side of the fence, it's tacky to laugh about, even if you're only laughing about it being a hot-button topic.

DOes that make any sense? I've had a few more cups of coffee...still need more.

Not trying to stir the pot, just trying to clarify that those who take offense to references to NIP on a thread about WDW pet peeves aren't necessarily overly-serious, humorless ninnies. ;) For us (and forgive me moms and dads for speaking for us) it's a sort of "you just don't go there" thing. :)
