Fifth Guest?

I am POSITIVE that the DVC booking site used to show when a resort allowed a 5th guest in a 1BR. For instance, I know the "additional details" tab of the BWV 1BRs used to have a sentence that said something along the lines of "a 5th guest is permitted when a member is staying on points, but no additional bedding will be provided." Like, almost word-for-word -- I can picture it vividly. That's no longer there, or it's not where I remember it being. Am I missing it, did they move it, or did they eliminate this policy?

If this policy is still in place, is it only BWV and BCV that allow a 5th guest for DVC members staying on points? In other words, does CCV max out at 4?

Obviously, most 1BRs have a 5-person capacity to begin with. I'm not talking about those. I'm talking about the 4-person ones that allow a 5th for DVC only on a BYOB basis.

CCV has a hard limit of 4 plus one infant.

Like Erionm said CCV is a hard 4 due to the size of the rooms. They are smaller than other resorts. BCV, BWV and BRV also say 4. I would call members services to confirm, but a 5th should be allowed but you’ll have to supply the sleeping surface and linens. All the rest of the resorts have 5 sleeping surfaces in the 1 bedrooms

You have to call MS to book the 5th guest in a 1BR at BWV, BCV or BRV so that MS can be sure you understand the requirement to provide bedding for that 5th person and what that means. I think cash guests and possibly some renters and even owners didn’t understand what that meant and expected the resort to provide a cot or rollaway.

I have seen nothing to show the rule has changed. BWV, BRV, and BCV can have 5 in a 1BR though they have bedding for only 4, and the latest refurbs of all three of those did not add a fifth bed via a pull-out beneath the TV in the living room as was done at SSR in its last refurb to allow 5. At WDW, 1BRs at CCV and AKV value rooms, both of which are smaller than any DVC 1BRs elsewhere, allow only 4. VGF, Riviera, and Poly Island Tower 1BRs also have that pull-out Murphy bed from a cabinet beneath the TV (as part of the original design of the rooms). OKW, BLT, and AKV 1BRs (other than AKV value) have a large chair that pulls out to an almost twin size bed for a fifth, which beds are larger than those cabinet pull-outs in 1BRs elsewhere.

It still shows when you click on view details that members booking on points can have a fifth guest. As others have stated you can’t actually book the fifth guest online, but you can contact member services and they can add them for you. Ironically, Saratoga still has the same wording, even though they did add the fifth sleeper under the TV during the refurbishment.

Thanks all!

Apparently the message only shows up on "resort view" rooms, which only matters at BWV because it's the only one with different categories of rooms. And BWV was the one I was looking at. Since it's not my home resort, I wasn't even tempting myself by looking at "resort view." The message still doesn't show up on the pool/garden or boardwalk views -- I know there is no difference between the resort/pool/garden/boardwalk view rooms, so I'm sure that's just one of the wonders of the marvelous DVC site. Good to know that they didn't change this policy!

And good to know that CCV is a hard limit of 4. I don't remember those 1BRs being any smaller than BWV or BCV. In fact, I remember them being a bit nicer and more well laid out. But, it's been AGES since we stayed in a 1BR there.

They are definitely smaller at CCV (675 square feet) vs BWV (712 square feet)

I do think the layout of the kitchen at CCV makes them not seem that small though.

This is because something like 3 of the Saratoga units don't have the pull out. Generally this is being handled by assignment but there is always a small chance every 1BR is booked by a group of 5 someday.

Very small chance but legally it is a chance.

Wow I had no idea Thanks.
