Festival of Lion King Goes Down AGAIN

Maybe you got all of them and saved the happy ones for me.

You're welcome

I have to say that for the most part the CM's have all been pleasant and nice.

I'd say a good portion are with most others being neither great nor terrible. I've just noticed an increase in nasty attitudes. While I did go when I was a child, it was so infrequent that I have only vague memories of it. I started going to WDW routinely in my teenage years and have done so for close to two decades at this point.

I just wonder if the new groups of CMs are trained differently. I've heard that things have changed.

The training is a lot shorter and there are a lot more "seasonal" and college program employees than career Disney people now. We know some people in guest services who really feel the pain of this shift in employees and customer service but it saves the company at least a dollar an hour so it's worth it to the financials.

I actually think it's the opposite -- it's the older workers who are much more likely to be poorly behaved than the college kids or even the high schoolers. The change in the economy has forced older people into service jobs when they think they are above them. They've got no choice, and they need the job, but they can't help being resentful about it. And they don't like being bossed/ordered around by families and having to please people in order to make ends meet.

The bad experiences I've had at Wow have almost universally been with displaced workers -- CMs in their 40s or older who you know can't believe this is what they are doing for a living. The kids are grateful for the experience (and the money) -- it's the older CMs who are angry that this is their life.

It's been mostly the opposite for me. All of my really great CM encounters have been with older CMs. The disaffected college students are usually obvious. Most really don't care to be there. I can't blame them totally. The pixie dust of working at WDW probably wears off mighty quick and their lodgings, rules, and minimum wages don't much foster an environment of giving a damn.

But I won't generalize because I do know many young CMs in the DCP LOVE working at WDW. The decline in CM behavior doesn't have much of a pattern that I can tell other than that it's been going on for the past few years.

It's been the opposite for me too. There have been some grumpy older workers but from what I've seen many of them are retired and working at the parks for fun and to keep busy. Many of the "kids" don't seem to have the experience to deal with horrible people all day long plus the pay is pretty pathetic.
