Rain was falling as we headed out to the bus stop, but it was really light and looked like it was going to stop. I decieded to live dangerously and leave the poncho in the room and just go with my light rain jacket. Our first day in the parks was Walt Disney's birthday so there was really only one option for a park.
The Magic Kingdom!
In hindsight another park may have been a better option, as that day had been a Christmas parade filming day. I knew that going in, but decided to go for it anyways. We had two non-park days scheduled, and if we didn't make it to the Magic Kingdom on day 1 we probably wouldn't get to see Wishes or Spectromagic.
We had barely waited more than a minute or two before the bus showed up. I have to say that I really like how AsSp has their bus stop. Having separate lines for each park with a maze keeps things well organized. Later in the week we had a bit of a mess at a deluxe resort over the buses. If only the values covered the bus areas it would be perfect. I can't imagine how hot it must be waiting in the middle of summer.
I always love that first moment at a park on my trips. The entire week still lies ahead filled with promise, and the trip can still be anything. It's a bit of a magical moment.
We made it through the gates, but before doing anything else I had to make a pitstop at town hall to do a bit of upgrading of my tickets. A printer jam, and a little bit of time later and I am now the proud owner of a Disney Annual Pass.

Seriously, I was so happy I felt like doing a little banana dance.

I also purchased a Tables in Wonderland card and we were ready to go!
We headed up Main St. doing a bit of window shopping. I was eyeing one of the new Dooney & Bourke Disney tassel bags, but reminded myself I was not going crazy with souveniers this trip and regretfully said goodbye to the cute bag. Main Street was crowded, but not overwhelmingly so. We went to head over to Adventureland, but got held up by a parade passing down Main St. I thought it was the Dream Come True Parade, but we saw that later in the week and it was different. I usually don't see the afternoon parades, but this one was a really quick, fun parade.
Enough was enough at this point. We were both itching to hit an attraction, but where would we go first?????
