There are a few dozen feral cats in our neighborhood and they like to sneak through our fence and into our yard. They have killed the lawn and various plants with their urine, are defecating on our steps and generally destroying the backyard. One even snuck into our basement somehow in the winter and ate a few pounds of fish food before hiding in the rafters between walls. (We finally got someone who got him out!)

We want to stop these cats from coming into the yard. We've blocked up as many holes in the fence with concrete blocks as we can find. We can't find where else they're coming in. We put down silver foil near the fence because we heard they don't like to walk on silver foil. They were sitting right on it like they were waiting for their concierge.

I've seen wolf urine for sale that is supposed to scare them away from coming in the yard. Has anyone tried it or something else that works? I don't want to hurt them but they are in line for deportation. They can't stay here!

Any advice?

And when the wolves show up to fight over their territory, what are you gonna do with them?

I know that I have heard to put mothballs in your garden to keep cats from peeing on the plants.. can you spread them around the perimeter of the fence and see if that smell keeps them away? Heck, it would keep me away - although Wolf pee probably doesn't smell a whole lot better. :rotfl: (how they got them to pee in those little cups... ;) )

Can you google feral cat rescue groups in your town. They could probably help relocate them. This is what happens when people don't spay and Nueter.

I wanna know where and how they get wolf urine. That seems so strange to me.

Anyway, good luck with the cats. I've heard that mothballs can help too.

You could move ;) :teeth: .

I have tried the moth balls (neighbors cat used our garden as a toilet  ) They smell terrible for just a few, can't imagine it around the perimeter of the yard :crazy2:. Do they come it your yard at night? If so try motion detector lights, it should frighten them when the light kicks on). We also were told to try the wolf pee, but well.......ick.

You could also surround your yard with rose bushes, that will keep them out :lmao:

I know here they have those humane traps for little critters, maybe you could check with your local humane society if they can help or at least give you a suggestion.

Good Luck!

I heard of coyote urine which is supposed to keep rabbits out of your garden but apparently that stuff stinks really bad.

Maybe you can set up motion sprinklers in the yard I know my cat hates water!

Can't most cats jump over fences so maybe that's how they are getting in??
