Femine products- name brand or store brand?

Generic is fine for pads. I find OB tampons to be the most absorbant. Tampax I find to be worse than most generics.

My 12 year old daughter and I are both faithful Kotex users, she uses the pads and I use the tampons. The store brands just don't seem to be absorbant enough.

thanks to this board, I now use a Diva Cup which has not only saved me money but I LOVE the thing! I've been using it for maybe 4 or 5 months now... so I figure I used to have to buy a new box of tampons every month at what? at least 6 dollars a pop (because I used to buy name brand).. then I bought a thing of pads once every few months (for leaks but I don't use those anymore either)... so so far I've saved around 40 dollars?

the diva cup is a little pricey.. it's 32.49 at drugstore.com. I bought mine at a local health food store though for probably around the same price... so it has basically paid for itself already.

It's not messy like it seems it would be and honestly I love it. There used to be a thread around here about it that was huge but it's gone missing for some reason. :confused3

anyway, that's my two cents and that's what I use. I would NEVER go back to pads or tampons.

I use Kotex tampons and Always pads.:thumbsup2
Tampax were always a pain for me (the cardboard! )!
And I have PCOS so before knowing it and "going" for 3 months straight these two brands never let me down!!

I usuall buy playtex or tampax and they have to be gentle glide or pearl. None of that cardboard for me. OUCH!!!

my 14 yr old dd uses Lunapads and LOVES them. She wears one of their pantyliners every day "just in case" bc they are as comfy as her underwear--not hot and sticky and crinkly.

In fact, she started her period at the Magic Kingdom one day and the thought of using a disposable horrified her! We had to go home for a Lunapad (not a big deal as we live 5 minutes away now). She wasn't prepared only bc it was the day we moved down here and stuff was still packed.

I also know many who swear by the Diva Cup and will never go back to tampons.

I used to only buy storebrand tampons until I started CVS-ing (and Walgreens-ing and Rite Aid-ing LOL) in January. I've been able to use (and stock up on) the newest styles of the name brands and have noticed a MAJOR difference between storebrand and namebrand. Holy cow, those Playtex Sport tampons are just awesome!

Dd13 isn't ready to use tampons yet. She has said that she likes Kotex and Always pads best so far (only a few months)---I've got lots of different brands and sizes for her to try out.

name brand. that is one thing I just can't imagine using off brand on. won't convince me otherwise!!

I'm fine with store brand for pads and pantyliners, but I like Playtex for tampons.

I have tried several different kinds of pads and find I prefer the store brand pads - but only from one particular store (Zehrs - their store brand is called Exact). They are more absorbent and more comfortable than Always. However, I have been less happy with the store brand tampons and prefer (by far) the OB tampons.

Tried store brand doesn't work, must use name brand.

I use both pads and tampons. Tampons MUST be Tampax Compak. With pads I prefer Always but will usually buy what's on sale. Except Kotex. Don't like those at all.

I MUST use OB tampons - nothing else comes close to the comfort and absorbency.

I loved Kotex pads when they were using the little velco tabs on the wings. that particular model seems to have been discontinued, so I'll use either Kotex or always - whichever is on sale. Nonames seem to have an adhesive problem for me.

Given the miracle of the pill, I can get by on whatever's cheapest--usually samples or free from CVS. I've had the same box of supplies for over a year.

I can understand that everyone's got their own needs and should use what works best for them, but I never understood folks who insisted on only the name brand stuff without ever trying the cheaper alternatives.

Every once in a while someone will spout off a huffy "I could NEVER use generic tampons" like they're some kind of high end luxury product. They're tampons--it's not exactly a glamorous job, you know?

I'm still using up the Platex Sport tampons & Kotex pads with wings from the unlimited ecb deal at CVS 2 Octobers ago (this involved dh pushing a buggy of pink boxes to the register with me almost daily, lol). Well, this summer we were not at home & dh got me a box of tampon cardboard applicators- they sucked. Always thin pads are actually my fave. I use whatever I can get free, though I don't like cardboard applicators or thick pads w/o wings b/c of bunching. The store brands are ok though, but I can get name brand cheap or free :).

I buy Tampax and Always only. I have made the mistake over and over by buying other brands and have always been sorry .

Playtex Gentle Glide Super for me, Sport for DD; Always for DD and Serenity for me. Name only, I get infections from the generics.
