We leave Sept. 28 and I would appreciate any updates from those travelling now and upcoming weeks to WDW. Reports on gas prices and locations, as well as, rationing and such will really help us all have a better trip. If you would date when you did it that would help us stay current. I rather be prepared for the worse. Please share what you know.

I think, if we keep this thread going we can help one another. There are reports of two other potential storms coming, too.

Even if, you are not travelling there, you can still help letting us know what is happening in your state and/or city. Key interest to all will probably be those who live in neighboring states to Florida like Georgia.

In Indiana as of 09/01, we are seeing gas prices from $3.17 to $3.49/gallon. We live near Lafayette and there seems to be a good supply of gas, right now.

Please help with your info. TIA

Just left Disney World yesterday 9/1/05 gas on site was at 2.79 a gallon.
Arrived in Philadelphia and it was 3.39 at the airport and in my nick of the woods it was 3.15 a gallon.

We are the same as Chuck-PA....live in South Jersey outside of Philly. We came home tuesday and no trouble getting gas at all.

We will be leaving on Oct. 1, driving down to WDW from Pa. I would love to have have much information as possible about gas also. Not so much worried about the price as I am any shortages

In Chicago suburbs, we are at $3.19 a gallon or higher. We were also driving at the end of the month. I just booked airfare. I am more worried about the shortages down south

http://www.georgiagasprices.com/ Here's a link to a datebase of current gas prices in the state of Georgia. It's constantly updated and very accurate. Additionally, try http://www.gasbuddy.com/ for other states participating in the database (including Florida/Orlando).

If traveling South thru Georgia on Interstate 75, some of the larger cities you will travel through are:
(north - south) Chattanooga, Dalton, Calhoun, Cartersville, Acworth, Kennesaw, Marietta, Atlanta, Stockbridge, McDonnough, Locust Grove, Macon (be sure to take the 475 by-pass around Macon), Perry, Cordele, Tifton, Adel, Valdosta, Lake Park. Each of these cities along 75 has hotels/motels, restaurants/fast food, gas/truck stops. Cartersville-McDonnough are considered part of the greater Atlanta suburbs and will offer practically endless options. Dalton, Macon and Valdosta are also relatively large cities.

If anone is traveling thru Georgia and would like suggestions where to stop/eat/fill-up/stay, I'll try to help. I'm a Georgia native who has traveled extensively through the state for my work. PM me, or respond to this thread.

I live in the Raleigh area and we are leaving tomorrow for florida. We are stopping in SC for the Clemson/Texas A&M football game. I would love to hear prices and availablity in SC and GA and FL. Gas in Raleigh is $3.09 and up.

Thanks!

I'm not sure that many travelers come through my parts, Winston-Salem or Greensboro, NC. But if you do, currently the gas prices range from 2.45 to 4.05 (that one station reported on the radio yesterday morning). The three stations nearest my house are out of gas and I have read in the newspaper of a handful of other stations running out as well.

But, I don't think this will be a long standing problem. The price may not go down, but I imagine these stations will have gas again before the month is out.

Gas was $2.89 here yesterday this morning it was $3.10. There are several stations nearby that are closed.

I am in Upstate NY, a little south of Syracuse, along route 81. Wednesday night I paid 2.97 a gallon and my husband said he got it for 2.87 yesterday, but along the main highways its going for 3.10 a gallon! Everyone is saying its still rising, I hope it hits a ceiling somewhere up thou! This is crazy. We have a trucking company and we dont even clear a profit after fuel costs..its crazy! :confused3

I've been listening to the news and heard Pres.Bush say don't travel if you don't need to. We are suppose to leave 09/09 for FL, 2days St Augustine then 7 at WDW. Don't know what the right thing to do is. This trip has been planned for 2 yrs, There are 14 of us going (5 are driving up from southern Florida), my daughter and her family are taking their first trip. (she went in 1999, but hasn't been since she got married and had kids). It is going to be a reunion of sorts, some family members haven't seen each other in 4 years.
We aren't that concerned about the gas prices right now, just wondering if we need to conserve & if we should stay home with the rest of my family.

We're a little west of the Binghamton, NY area, and prices are going crazy here. I filled up on Monday at 2.65/gallon. Dh filled up Wednesday evening at 2.95/gallon. During the day yesterday the prices went up to 3.15/gallon, and this morning they are 3.39+/gallon. There is still one station near here at 2.99/gallon with long, long lines.

I don't believe he means for travel. On another thread a woman was wondering if she should cancel their trip, her husband said no because we need to keep the economy going. I take what Pres Bush and others mean that if you are driving home from work and need to do some shopping don't go home then head out again. Do it on your way home. Maybe this is only caving 1/2 gallon of gas but if everyone did it. So I say take your trip, I think the "shortage" is because people were trying to get gas before the prices rose.

Have Fun!

Hey Bete, we will be leaving next Thursday from the South Bend area. I plan on keeping track of gas for my scrapbook(gotta scrapbook everything ya know :) ) When we get back on the 18th I will PM you and let you know as I am sure that we would be taking a similar route down to FL.

I am from Birmingham, AL and the reports here say that there is no gas off of I-65 from Montgomery all the way to Mobile and Gulf Shores. We had plans to go to Gulf Shores this weekend but had to cancel because there is no gas down there. Rumor has it that there will be a serious shortage of gas in the Birmingham area by the end of the weekend. So, if you are traveling down to Disney and planning to go through Alabama you may want to change your route.

Gas prices? What are they?

What does the price matter when there is NO GAS in SW Florida!?!

HESS at Downtown Disney was $2.85 at 1:30am this morning. I will check it around 4:00 today and report back. :cool1:

First we were concerned with the price..now just concerned about getting some or not.. YIKES!

We leave Sunday night for the drive to Orlando from NC. We will be traveling down 95.

Our gas here is about 3.40 a gallon right now. I hope we can find it some place cheaper for the drive down there and just hope we are able to find some when we need it.

I just do not have the heart to cancel my trip! It is too important to us.

Will be heading to WDW from Peachtree City, GA at 3:30 this afternoon. I am hearing good news of gas availablility on the way down and Disney says they have no problem on site for the bus system. Looking forward to the magical trip for my DD(3) - her first expiereince of the Great Mouse. She woke up at 3 AM this morning asking to go - wish I could have gone then - but had to work today.
