I have been reading this particular board but haven't really joined any of the groups here. I myself started the south beach diet a month ago. I did great through phase one then onto phase two I started letting things slip. I am a stress eater and I also eat for comfort:( I don't have a huge goal to get to my target weight just 20 more pounds but it is just the most frustrating 20 pounds ever! I am stuck in limbo I'm not majorly over-weight and I'm not skinny I'm just awkward shape:mad:
I started dieting because I want to be healthy and I am going to be meeting my dbf's family for the first time and I want to make a good impression both physically and all around. I guess my nerves have been getting to me (leaving for N.Y. to meet them in 3 days) this past weekend I started with only a few forbidden foods and today I ended up scarfing down two slices of pepperoni pizza, 3 ckn wings and a hunk of left over birthday cake:( I can honestly say I am not feeling my best atm. I feel guilty and worst of all I feel fat. Been the bigger girl most of my life so I am used to it and I don't have self confidence issues but I do feel disappointed about the binging. Sorry about the long post but just needed to vent and see if anyone can relate to how I feel. Thanks for reading:)

Oh how I know the feeling. Ugh!

Don't give up! Keep at it one thing at a time. Grab hold by whatever you can and make the changes small.

Join in and post. I find that helps when I post to help others. We all need each other.

Make a new start and do your best! One step at a time, one goal at a time.Go for it!

:cheer2:

I can definately relate to how you feel::yes:: I just noticed in recent pix that I have gaine almost 60 pounds in 8 years. I have days that I feel horrible about myself. However, I felt this way 60 pounds ago too! If I were you, I would just try to stay at where you are now and if you lose weight, GREAT!!! If not, you are not gaining either! I wish 60 pounds ago that I would have just tried to maintain and not do the whole yoyo dieting thing. Instead of being 30 pounds over weight, I'm more like 90 pounds over weight. Just a word of advice that can hopefully help you feel happier about who you are right now.

i have been there to in my own way. is south beach an eating plan you intend to follow for the rest of your life? i found myself overwhelmed/bored with following an eating plan and gradually transistioned to counting calories in a food journal. sometimes i just need to swap it up. and if you are intending to do so eventually maybe a change up will jumpstart your motivation?

hang in there, could this last hurdle be a mental hurdle? i self-sabatoge for a long time b/c i didn't feel i could really really accomplish my goal, so it was easier to fail. make sense?

hang in there!

::yes:: to the PP.
I started South Beach and it was a good "cleansing" for the first 2 months. Now I am at the point of using the education given to me in those two months and counting calories.
I stay away from all white breads, and anything that is a "sister" to that.
I have had moments, but I ask myself do I NEED it or WANT it. Usually it's want and then I pass.
Just hop back on tomorrow, you'll be ok.
Also I have noticed, when I work out, I am tend to keep myself in check with eating too.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the support and encouragement:) I really do like the south beach diet and I really do want a life change. It's just hard changing so many years of careless eating. I think the hardest things to give up are the simple carbs and sugars. I really love pizza and now I realize just how hard it is to find sugar free products. It's such a small selection and very frustrating. I'm trying to only stay with natural sugars fruits, cane sugar ect,but every once and a while I like to have candy or cookies and the regular stuff on the shelf is always 20 plus grams of sugar and usually gives me a headache( that hunk of cake gave me the worst migraine) Not looking to give up all sugar just trying to find things that have a lower amount. I like everything on the low glycemic index(which essentially is the south beach diet)I was just feeling really bad because I worked so hard to get through phase one which is really tough. Thanks again for the encouraging words!
