Feels weird booking dining...

...not knowing if we will even be there! Our dining window opens in a couple weeks and I'm so torn. Usually I'm SO EXCITED to book it because it's the beginning of it getting "real" but now I'm scared to get excited. Our trip is November... so they may be open/may not, but depending on what the rules are we may push our trip back. I'm sad at the thought.

I felt the same way when I booked my dining a few weeks ago for our September trip. At this point, I'm trying to not let myself get too excited. It's hard though, we all need a vacation!

Me too! I’m trying to dig down for some planning excitement but the reality of everything is making it hard to find.

Glad I'm not alone.... I'm trying to just keep my mindset positive, knowing it's out of my control, but that's really not my strength in life LOL!

I have that feeling too. I will be making ADR's on 4/27 and in the back of my head I'm thinking, will WDW be back to normal by then?

Looking forward to making our October ADRs.
Had great ones for our April trip that got cancelled.
Hoping to recycle some of the same restaurants.

The thing that makes this so weird is not knowing how (1) face characters and (2) buffets will be operating when we go. I may find myself making a lot of last-minute changes if it turns out, for example, that CRT is going to be princess-less.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to recreate lost ADRs. Even if nothing on your list was available, all the hardest-to-get reservations always seem pop back into inventory eventually (except sci-fi for some reason--that has some crazy loyal fans).

I actually have to cancel my ADR's for June, which is so depressing. I'm supposed to book my Fastpasses next Saturday. My Travel Agent hasn't cancelled my trip yet, but she has instructions to cancel and reschedule everything for July 2021. It is just sad knowing that normally I would be jumping out of my skin with excitement right now. Instead, I am filled with fear and have to do cancellations.

I know some people are planning on going in the summer and fall. I just can't risk getting Covid19 being an asthmatic. My DD and DH also have health issues which makes them at risk for being put on a ventilator should they get the virus. So, we are hoping that by summer 2021, this scourge is behind us.

When all of this is over, we will really need a vacation.

I have breakfast booked for CRT in September and am soooo hopeful its happening! That would really suck, Disney with no princesses! Im having trouble finding a Sci-Fi dinner. And actually for me the hardest has been Storybook Dining at Artist Point! I did manage to get a 4:20 but wanted much later!

I would cancel in your shoes as well, but just in case it helps to reduce your stress in life more generally, latest evidence suggests that asthma does not increase your risk in connection with coronavirus. There is so much we are still learning each day about this crazy disease. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/04/16/health/coronavirus-asthma-risk.amp.html

This is the first positive thing I have read. Thank you so much for sharing this information with me. I truly appreciate it.

did our ADRs last week, only TS we are doing is 1900PF. not sure if we will even end up going and wonder what character buffets will look like.
Not telling my family that the October trip may be canceled as the April one was.
April 2021 could be when we go.

Thanks for sharing this. I have asthma and am otherwise healthy... but I live in NJ and my H works in NYC (although he's working from home now) and I have a son with asthma so this was concerning.

Just cancelled all the reservations for our May trip. That was harder to do than cancelling the resorts. Not because it wasn't simple, but you make those reservations because you're excited about those restaurants, you know!?
Did you call or do it online?

UGH! I do get it! Which is why I'm almost dreading making my reservations, knowing they may not happen!

You know the phrase, "If you want God to laugh, tell Him your plans."? That basically feels like the story of my life right now.

We got all of ADRs squared away March 9th or so. Emailed some family of ours that is going to be there for an overlapping period of time, so emailed them to let them know our plans so they could be involved if they wanted. Within a week and a half, things started shutting down, and here we are.

We are pretty simple travelers when we come to WDW. But, this vacation, we decided to splurge and go all out, and made reservations that we never would have made before....and sure enough THIS is the vacation that would be ruined. We have 3 character buffets planned which...we'll see. Not feeling too optimistic.

When are you supposed to go?

My H and I decided our "line in the sand" is masks... we don't want to go (assuming it's open in Nov) if we have to wear masks the whole time bc it's so hard to breathe in them... the thought of being in them for the whole day... or our kids... is too much. Obviously if this became a multi-year event and wearing masks became normal, like it is in China, then we'd reassess... but for now, assuming that aspect of life will eventually go away... that's our line.
