It is illegal to track and kill a fox however if we are to accidently stumble upon a fox we may kill it with a single bullet. It must be quick and painless. The hounds are purely there to follow the scent, a lot of misinformed people think that they maul the animal to death but they don't. Hounds track but they won't kill. Obviously it's a little hard to follow all this on foot so we use horses. Usually the huntmaster and whipper in (person controlling the hounds) will go off leaving everyone (the field) to just gallop around aimlessly xD Since the ban came in we drag a scent across a route and follow it. It's more like a day out now really compared to trying to kill an animal. Anways foxes are technically vermin, farmers have been shooting them for years. It doesn't mean I agree.
