So my boyfriend and I have started to seriously plan for a Disney Wedding! We've decided to just tell his parents instead of asking... and we're very excited about it! We don't want to get married until October 08, however and he will be getting down on one knee for the offical proposal soon. :thumbsup2

I went over to Disneymooner.com and I have to say I feel like I'm being left out of something super secretive! Since you have to have a contact at Disney before you can register, I won't be able to register until next October. :( I feel like I'm totally missing out! Can someone reassure me that I'm not? :rotfl:

I can't say for sure if you're missing out or not. But if you are, so am I. I haven't even been to the site yet and I've only got 7 months left. I'll check it out and let you know.

when planning my wedding last year i tried joining but had no luck. from what i hear its very clique-y. i'm pretty sure that anything you find out over there you could have got from here anyway. i gave up trying to join in the end cos didnt really want to be a part of anything that demands so much info off you before you're even let in!

I don't know if you're really missing out on anything. I tried to join, I got a username and everything but then couldn't figure our how to get to the login site. It just said follow the instructions on the page, but there really weren't any :confused3 . I'm sticking here at the DIS. Tons of info and very nice people :cool1: :cool1:

We are only 37 days out and I didn't even really know about it. I've heard about it once or twice, but never looked into it. From the sounds of it, it's too much work. ;) Besides, anything I've ever wanted to know I just ask here. And people are so informative. I'll just take my chances on the Disboards!!! :disrocks:

I've heard it's cliquey too. I also couldn't join because I didn't have contact info.

I had the same problem as Sparkles. Signed up, got the username, then couldn't access the site. They said to click something that just wasn't there. I was a little bummed at first, but disboards has been such a great resource that I'm just shrugging it off. I'm just so glad I found a site that is so oriented toward Disney weddings. Hooray!

I used to be on the DM, but honestly, I didn't learn a thing there that I couldn't have gotten here or somewhere else. It was just a waste of my time, so no, you're not missing anything.

I've decided not to join. I went to the website adn they asked for all that info. THen emailed me requesting more, and "having" to post and all that just seemed like too much. I'll stick with the Disboards. You guys are great! :grouphug:

You are not missing out at all. I joined and was not impressed. I did not feel comfortable with the posters. The people on DISboards are so nice and so helpful. :)

Don't worry, you're not missing out! The information is no different than anywhere else. The main difference is the organization of the info..No biggie!!!

i went to check out that site you mentioned. i'm getting married in march at the WP. just wanted to let you know what my answers were to their questionaire. this is what i sent to them:

a. you people are
b. nuts.
c. who are you to
d. demand
e. such info.
f. it's like you're in
g. high school and you
h. think you're the
i. cool kids, who get to say
j. who's in the cool crowd and who's not.
k. thanks but no thanks. i don't want to be a member of
a group that excludes people because you don't like
the info they give. again thanks but no thanks. GOODBYE

Lol, i've got to be honest...that was pretty immature! They have every right to demand such information from people who want to join. They do that probably for the protection and the sake of the members' personal information. Unlike this board, it is private and unavailable to the public. Anyone can log in here and view all of the information posted. It's not like we post very personal information, but maybe they do over there. I've been, in essence, planning my wedding at WDW for nearly two and a half years now. When I first heard about it a couple of years ago, I was bummed that I couldn't join because I didn't have the right information, but it was no big deal...I would be able to eventually.

You're not missing much in the first place! Who cares! They are probably getting a huge laugh over that!!

I tried to join and got as far as the confirm log-in registration but my computer couldn't recognize the images they used so I emailed them and they said they'd fix it it and I'd get another email but I didn't. When I emailed them again I didn't get a response so I figured forget them. I get all the information I could ever want from the DIS. :disrocks:

I'm a member of both the Disneymooners and the DIS, and both have their pros and cons. The Disneymooners are a private board, and as such ask for certain information to make sure that couple who gain access to the board are 'legit' Disney brides and not vendors or family members of brides, etc.

If you don't want to provide the information they ask for, then you can't join that particular board. But, that doesn't mean there is any reason to slam them. The Disneymooners aren't better or worse than the DIS, just different.

Agreed! I find the Disneymooner board less active, but it's organized in a way that makes finding information quite easy. I'm glad there are both sites available!

I agree that all the Disney Wedding boards (whether here, DM'ers, Disneybrides.com, etc) all have their pros/cons. They all have their rules and their reasons for having them. Each provides you with a different community and you just need to determine for yourself what works best for you. I was on the DM'ers while planning my wedding and I have to say that they were invaluable in many respects, but I am certain that you can also find what you need here or on Disneybrides.

Are you able to join DM'ers if you merely list your WP, etc as TBD? I think when I first joined we only had to mention the name of our SM who I had assigned to me from the first day we contacted DFTW. Much of what they request no one will know at the outset...we had a lot of TBD when we responded to their questions. As stated herein, they just want to be certain that they have legitimate DFTW couples .
